Guest guest
Splenda is a derivitive of sugar making it a not so chemical choice of ther sweetner. Ones like Equal have the aspartame connection controversy, but me I dont have any concerns because everything in moderation is key anyways - like one can of diet soda isnt going to kill me over anything else that might ;-) The thing about artificial sweetners tho is that it does not retrain your brain. By this I mean if you eat alot of sweet stuff, your brain doesnt differenciate btwn fake sweetner and real sugar. You will always crave more. Eat no sweet stuff for say two weeks and then have a piece of carrot cake with cream cheese icing - twang! it was enough to make my teeth fall out! LoL! I couldnt believe there was a time I thought it wasnt sweet enough! I find too that when I do have a diet soda (aspartame) I want something 'else' after it (some other sweet carb) so I think it has the effect on some people like me to just increase cravings instead of dulling them. <<joni>> *who maybe has a diet cola once a week now if that*
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. I do think it was the aspartame I was thinking about. So you are saying it is not in Splenda but it is in Equal. I'll check it out when I go shopping this week. Isn't aspartame in sugar free yogurt as well? I think I have seen some yogurt with Splenda instead. I'll check that out too. Thanks again. Everyone's information is always so helpful. I am starting my first 12-week challenge this Monday so I am trying to be prepared with recipes, exercises, etc. I've made a folder and have all my tracking sheets in it. I added my profile on the bfltracker site and will be taking my pictures and measurements this weekend. I'm sure I'll have more questions after I start the challenge. You guys are GREAT! ) Re: Nutrition question - Splenda Splenda is a derivitive of sugar making it a not so chemical choice of ther sweetner. Guest guest
I wouldn't get TOO freaked out about aspartame, unless you have problems with your liver. Here's the straight dope on all the hype: http://www.snopes.com/toxins/aspartame.asp Re: Nutrition question - Splenda Splenda is a derivitive of sugar making it a not so chemical choice of ther sweetner.
