Guest guest
Hi Everyone: This was posted on the perfume of life forum tonight, and it sounds great. Yes, they'll be emphasizing mainstream (mostly non-natural) perfumes, I'm sure, but it is the industry, and it is relevant to our business, plus great contacts can be made. We should think about how we can get involved. Here's the post: For the past few years, " Fragrance Week, " has become a big hit in New York City. A few years ago, I had pointed out to The Fragrance Foundation their lack of getting the consumer involved in their mission to Ellen Lapsansky, Executive Director. I had stated simply that if it were not for people like us, the consumers, there wouldn't be a fragrance industry to begin with. In the past few years, I am elated to see The Fragrance Foundation mentioned in more consumer-oriented publications and press. While I'm sure my bewailing and fussing commentary to them wasn't the catalyst, I'd like to think it did make a contribution to some degree -- wishful thinking on my behalf. The people at The Fragrance Foundation are FANTASTIC people. I say that with UTMOST sincerity and respect. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of being invited out to their organization, and met the amazing Annette Green, then president, now President Emeritus, as well as Ellen Lapsansky herself. They truly run a first-class act over on East 32nd street, and they do play an important role in the industry! With online forums, such as Perfume of Life, the extensive amounts of information contained in them are often taken for granted. While not a database in the traditional sense of the word, I believe some forums are the most complex databases because of the vast amounts of data provided by the users. Just think about all the data we have compiled on Perfume of Life! There's a LOT of valuable information on here aside from being an online community. While we are benefiting tremendously from this online community, wouldn't it be great to somehow get Perfume of Life invovled in part of the 2006 Fragrance Week activities to some degree? I've been thinking about this for a while now, and haven't quite thought of who to approach first. Dame himself to see if he's even interested, was the OBVIOUS choice, as this is his property. But since this is just an idea at this point, I thought there's no harm in posting it as a message to see if there's anyone who has other ideas and direction. , himself, may simply reply here and say there's no interest and that'd be the end of it. But, if there is anything we can do as on online community to somehow get involved with Fragrance Week 2006 I think would be a fantastic idea. I'm willing to donating any of my resources, from a personal and/or business perspective to do my part. Thoughts, ideas, constructive criticism... please. It can't hurt to at least try, right? By the way, Fragrance Week 2006 is as follows: FRAGRANCE WEEK NYC, FRAGRANCE WEEK WEST, FRAGRANCE WEEK MIAMI October 16 - 20, 2006 - Entertaining, interactive, and educational activities designed to educate consumers about fragrance. - Events are organized at retail locations and public spaces.
