Wintergreen was the first EO I ever bought right before I joined this

group. I have two achy thumbs because of 20 years of pottery making,

so I thought to give it a try. I got it from my supplier in France

http://www.neroliane.com/product_info.php?products_id=191

that I trust fully who says that wintergreen grows wild in the US and

Canada and used by the Inuit Indians as a remedy for many things...,

but my supplier gets it from China. The aroma is reminiscent of

medications from childhood and it is still used in creams and lotions

for sprained muscles, etc. My supplier in South Africa refuses to sell

it because ..dangerous..!

Around that same time I tried a doctor prescribed medication in the

form of a cream to be applied 3 times daily to the thumbs. I applied

it to my left thumb only one evening before going to sleep. I woke up

12 hours later after a very deep sleep?? Was this medication

dangerous? SRILANE 5% Idrocilamide cream ( a Merck medication). It

turned out that Idrocilamide reverses the effect of coffee you had

that day and makes it become a sedative. There was no such warning on

the packaging, but the study I read on the net was confirmed later by

the doctor. SRILANE didn*t have that comforting aroma of wintergreen.

You want to know the effect wintergreen had on my thumb? Right after

this commercial from our sponsor,

Ha ha, just kidding! Wintergreen had a numbing effect on the skin, but

did not penetrate down to the joint. I probably needed to continue the

treatment for ten days, but then most information I was reading about

wintergreen was warnings to avoid litigation. So I stopped both

treatments and tried to relax instead and joined NP.
