I have various kinds, and each one smells different at different times undiluted. Sometimes I swear I can hardly smell anything at all coming out of the bottle. I've been working on different formulas for a rose-based perfume. And I have found that the fragrance seems to be stronger and more truly rose-like after it's been in dilution a little while. Almost like it " blooms " there in the bottle. Maybe this is why your diluted version paradoxically smells " stronger " ? Oh the mysteries of nature... -Patty --- Tonie <khephra@...> wrote: __________________________________________________

What species of Rose, and which country is it supposed to be from? Will Eden Botanicals

What species of Rose, >and which country is it supposed to be from? Will, Tonie... What I'm thinking is perhaps the supplier accidently sent a diluted rose. Many do sell dilutions. I've had several " oops " shipments over the years. Did you write the seller? I would, and tell them that rose is supposed to be strong, not weak, so perhaps they made a mistake. > Anya http://artisannaturalperfumers.com The Artisan Natural Perfumers Guild http://.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume / Biggest, most dynamic natural perfumery chat group on the Web

I tried a couple of drops in a test with a couple of other oils last night (6 drops of oil total), and the rose immediately disappeared. The scent is very faint right out of the bottle. I guess I'll request samples of anything like that from now on before spending that much money on something. Thanks much for the feedback! " This is a lesson we all either learned already or need to learn... I have not sampled any rose absolute from S. Africa, so I can not comment except that a faint scent in a damascena absolute doesn't sound right... Will Eden Botanicals

You can copy my comments and send them along, if you wish. First, however, back to my initial post, I'd ask them if it was an honest mistake. Will > Eden Botanicals My question is in regards to Rose Absolute versus Rose OTTO. I want to make a face cream so am thinking that Rose OTTO which is steam distilled is a better choice than rose absolute for a face cream. Does anyone agree or disagree. In regards to perfumery, it seems expedient to have matching creams or lotions for your perfumes. Hope this is ok to ask. regards BB __________________________________________________

Does anyone agree or >disagree. BB, otto is the way to go. All my studies have shown that the otto is the therapeutic rose product for the skin. Not to say you might not add a tiny bit of absolute to ad to the odor profile, but it is not the skin care choice. >In regards to perfumery, it seems expedient to have >matching creams or lotions for your perfumes. Hope >this is ok to ask. Sure it is ;-) We're all here to learn. It has been my experience that many major lines, like Chanel, Bulgari, et al have variations in the scent of their different products. When a perfume is reformulated, even into an EdT, or lotion, or dusting powder, they are close, but never identical to the parfum. > Anya http://artisannaturalperfumers.com The Artisan Natural Perfumers Guild http://.com The premier site on the Web to discover the beauty of Natural Perfume / Biggest, most dynamic natural perfumery chat group on the Web

The Rose otto will give the aromatheraputic benefits of Rose better than the Rose absolute and you will not need to worry about the small percentage of solvents that may be left in the Rose absolute. It is also expedient to have matching perfumes for your creams and lotions ;-) Will Eden Botanicals

I'll write to the vendor about getting a refund. I've had good experiences with them in the past, so it may have just been a mistake. BTW, it was not anyone on the NP list of suppliers. They don't offer samples the way you do, and I appreciate the opportunity to try something out to see if it'll work for me. I'm looking forward to trying out the samples you've sent in the next day or two Tonie
