Guest guest
My challenges always involve social activities on the weekends. Mon-Fri, no problems really. I get up, do my workouts, go to work, every thing is prepared and done on a schedule. Then I head home, do a little extra workouts or yoga, prepare dinner, get things ready for the next day and start it all over again. It's really easy. But, starting Friday night, things go haywire. We always go out to eat on Friday. 9 out of 10 times it's a local pizza place. Granted, it's one of those with a lot of healthy topping choices, fresh veggies and whole wheat crust and all. I can easily limit myself to a couple of slices of veggie pizza, or maybe even some grilled chicken added on top. So even then, it's not too bad. But Sat and Sun are hard. No routine. No plans really. I do get up and do my workouts but a bit later than during the week. So by the time I have breakfast on the weekends, I'm already past the time I usually have my mid-morning snack. So, it starts off screwy from there. Then DH sleeps late, really late. We may not have lunch till 2 or later. Or we may head out with one plan and change them and stay gone longer than I thought and my eating gets all out of whack. I'm still trying to figure out a good way to handle weekends. They are my constant challenge. _________________ " Whatever women must do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult. This last month was so hectic for me. Two weekends I was out of town and there were way too many food challenges. The challenges continue next week too. Next Tuesday is my birthday, which means dinner out with the family and then cake at my sisters house. Next Saturday is my monthly Girls Night Out. We're going to a Japanese Steak House so I can make pretty good choices there I think. How do you guys do it? How do you stay on track every day?!! I know we are all very busy people so you guys must have challenges too....right? Lori aka Swivel Queen Wannabe
Guest guest
Just keep taking it one day, one meal, one minute at a time. That's how they do it in A.A. and N.A. Break the day/activity down into manageable chunks, and take it as it comes. Having all your meals planned helps... for me, I have to take my cardio one minute at a time... checking off the minutes as I go so I won't forget where I am. That 19th minute is HELL! Don't get too bent out of shape over missing workouts/cheating with unauthorized foods/beverages. Just put it behind you and press forward. I, for one, am very glad that the BFL motto is: " Progress, not Perfection " ! My 1st 4 weeks Today is day 4 of week 4 and looking back through my exercise log, I realized that I missed 6 workouts. Guest guest
I've been trying to build more structure into my life... so I've decided to work out at the same time every day... and do the same with meals and other activities. I'm still tweaking the schedule I've made for myself, but making a schedule DOES help me when I'm " spinning my wheels " trying to figure out what needs to be done next. If you have MS Excel, I could send you a copy of my schedule, which you can modify to suit your needs... but it is easier to start with a template, unless you're experienced in using Office programs. ~Lydia Re: My 1st 4 weeks My challenges always involve social activities on the weekends. Guest guest
While that's an excellent idea I can't do that. I get up at 5:00 during the week to get in my workouts and breakfast and leave for work at 7:30. There is no way I can get up that early on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It's tough enough during the week. I struggle to get in bed by 11:00 during the week and usually stay up later on the weekends. DH is a real night owl and I have to compromise with him somewhat. I get to select our bed time during the week but he gets a vote in the weekends. I do try and get up by 8:00 on the weekends so it's not so bad but 5:00 is out of the question. So the same schedule everyday won't work for me. I try to adjust where I can. I've pretty much got the getting up and breakfast down. It's the times where our plans are, well, unplanned, that give me trouble. We'll leave the house with one plan in mind and end up staying gone much longer than we thought. Causes skipped meals sometimes. Plus we eat out a lot on the weekends. Frequently all meals but breakfast. Makes it tough sometimes but I'm learning more and more all the time and slowly figuring out a way that works for me. It's my biggest challenge. The original question was a question about dealing with challenges. Wanted to let her know that yes, I think we all have them. And some deal with them better than me I would like to see your spreadsheet though. Maybe I can use it as a starting point of some sort. _________________ " Whatever women must do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.
