Hello,

Has anyone tried " coconut absolute " ? It sounds great, and I would like

to get some. Do you know of any reputable suppliers that stock it? I

can not seem to be able to get it here in the UK.

Many thanks,

Boris

Hi Boris,

I have tried it from a couple of sources and I have not been

sufficiently impressed with it - at least for the price it is offered

at. I think the aroma of virgin coconut oil is superior to the

Coconut abs, however, virgin coconut does not work for our purposes.

at White Lotus was instrumental in getting Coconut abs

produced a few years back. I believe he still carries it:

Hi Will,

Many thanks for that - I will have a look at the White Lotus website.

Could you try to describe the fragrance of the absolute? The

descriptions that I have been able to find online are, at best, vague.

Many thanks!

It's very faint, Boris.

As Will mentioned, the virgin coconut oil, a fixed oil, not an absolute,

has a much richer coconut scent, but will not function as a scenting agent

for our alcohol perfumes, although I can see it being useful for oil or solids.

I got mine from whitelotusaromatics.com. It is very nice, however I have

not been working with it in any blends yet.

Hi Dorothy,

Many thanks for that. Do you also find the fragrance very faint, as the

others who have tried it? Have emailed whitelotusaromatics to ask if

they ship to the UK.

Many thanks,

Boris

I find it delicate, nothing raunchy about it at all. I have placed 5 drops

into a perfume that I am working on and it is giving it a rounder, richer,

fuller, creamier expression. It is like a skinny model has suddenly gotten

hips. I like it very much.

As Will mentioned before, White Lotus carries this absolute. However,

don't get your hopes too high on this one. It smells only slightly like

toasted coconut (forget about getting anything even slightly similar to

that wonderfully fragrant virgin coconut oil!). It lends a very subtle

oily and foody accent to perfumes, and is generally weak smelling. I use

it in my White Potion perfume, where it adds some creaminess, but I

don't consider it to be one of the most important natural perfumery

materials.
