Guest guest
Hi Everybody: Our membership went over the 800 mark today, and it's just wonderful to see so many interested in and practicing natural perfumery, the loveliest fragrant art. We've had so many new members flowing in every week, it's difficult to welcome you all individually, so I hope you understand. I also hope you aren't overwhelmed by the sheer volume of posts, and the revelation that natural perfumery isn't easy. Aromatherapy is easy, relatively. You have to study and really apply yourself with aromatherapy, and the results are often immediate and rewarding. Natural Perfumery is exacting, demanding, sometimes very difficult, and suited for someone who doesn't mind practicing in a solitary fashion. Don't be discouraged -- be encouraged that you want to build up your knowledge base and your experience to create a truly complex work of art -- a natural perfume. Here's the testing ground, the community knowledge center, so stick around for the long run. If the new members will step in and introduce themselves, it will help us get to know you. No matter where in the world you are, or what level of expertise you have in natural perfumery, you are welcome here. Check out our awesome message archive, and our Files and Links section. It's an education in its own right, having access to this group -- years of fabulous, sharing messages from other members, links to suppliers and informational websites, and you'll find the information here is incredible. Have fun, kick back, and if you're in the same mood I'm in, feel great that you're part of a burgeoning revival of a beautiful, fragrant ancient art, made new in the new Millennium. I am newbie here, just approved today! I am so excited! Sounds like you really know your stuff! I can hardly wait for you to share your experiences. My DH and I have made a Bay Rum Neuroli as an aftershave, but that is all we have done in this area. I know nothing about perfumery, and I can hardly wait to learn! all I can! The enthusiasm I have on life and this new adventure makes me an excellent student. I have experience blending oils and infusing herbs, and I love all the scents you mentioned. Vanilla, lavender, and gardenia are my favorites. I have so much to learn! Please share your experiences with me/us, as time allows. I would be ever so grateful. <Big Smiles> Kaye
Guest guest
Hi Anya and friends, I have joined your wonderful group some 3 weeks now and have been very selfish in not shearing with you all.How inspired I get not only about perfumery but also about life as I read your mail every day. Have been blending my own oils both for my friends and for my personal use over the past 5 yrs.I have not bought another bottle of perfume since.Among some of my favorite oils are Myrrh, rose otto, clary sage, neroli, lotus, lavender, tangerine, Cinnamon and I could go on and on . I will be trying blending natural perfumes soon and will surely shear my experiences with you all. Then I would not feel so selfish. I am so used to having to post Above and not Below, I slipped up this time. Habit corrected. I do not wish to be slapped with that a wet scent strip soaked in that awful oil I won't mention. I apologize. Actually, I prefer to post below. Thank you again for being so nice about it. Kaye

I have many friends here in Miami that call the Land of Wood and Water their home. I was so surprised to find years ago that there are no natural perfumes made in Jamaica -- maybe you can be the first perfumer! Are you aware of any distillation plants near you -- perhaps for allspice, vetiver, amyris, or ginger? How about virgin coconut oil? Share when you can, and let us know what we can do to help you along the perfumed path. Guest guest
Hi Anya Thanks for this very warm welcome that you have extended to me. What you and this group has done is further compounded my passion and dream to become a natural perfumer. I am from Kingston, and yes this is the lovely land of wood and water. I do not know of any Natural Perfumes here but I have not really checked, but there are soap, candle makers and blenders of essential oils for aromatherapy usage. 90% of our oils are imported. Unfortunately we have not truly taken advantage of the wonderful gift of plants and herbs that nature has so selfishly handed to us. I will definitely do some research on distillation plants, and oils you asked about and shear with the group. I do travel to Miami on business will be on South Beach this weekend.Where in that area can I get some oils to buy? One Love --------------------------------- Autos. Looking for a sweet ride? Yep, we'll draw you in like the most appealing fragrance, wafting right into your soul. > I will definitely do some research on distillation plants, and oils you > asked about and shear with the group. I know there is stuff coming out of JA. > > I do travel to Miami on business will be on South Beach this > weekend.Where in that area can I get some oils to buy? You going to go to the Marley festival downtown? I did the PR for them for many years, until the late, late nights got to me, lol. It's going to be great this year, I'll stop by early to catch the vibe. There aren't any sellers of EOs, either retail or wholesale near there. The closest might be camdengrey, but they're in West Miami, closed on the weekend, and mostly mail order. They only allow site pick ups on Thursdays, I think.
