sugars can be used and substitutes cannot.

Keep in mind that 3000yrs ago, there was no such thing as refined sugar.

I find these claims that anything but refined white sugar is going to

contaminate our cultures, rather bizarre if less than scientific.

What did the Russians use 3000 yrs ago? I'll guarantee that it wasn't refined

white sugar.

How much agave nectar do you use per quart of tea?

Does it have any effect, negative or positive, on your SCOBY?

According to our ever absent ( where are you hon?), it does after a

time. The sugar in the KT must have sucrose and agave nectar i believe she

said is glucose so you need to add some sucrose to the mixture to prevent

damage to the scoby- she gave the proportions, but I forgot, perhaps a search

thru the archives will shed some light on this matter. I forget how long she

said it took, but eventually her scoby was useless.

Hi EveryOne,

and her partner decided to move so that is what she has been

busy doing. Perhaps she will be back when she gets settled again:-))
