Guest guest
Well Come On! If the book is out of copyright (and it probably is - they didnt used to give those long copyrights), share some of the good stuff. Guest guest
Ken,That's a great deal. What a find! Talk about having your prayers answered! That book is hard to find and when you find it, as you saw, it is priced out of this world. marion
Guest guest
LOL, I plan to, once I get a chance to read it. It was published in 1975. I think we have come a long way from then and, thankfully, learned a thing or two about making raw food more enjoyable. In Boutenko's book, " Green for Life " , she says, that Ann Wigmore made an " exceptionally beneficial energy soup " but " most of the guests at the institute were not able to eat more than a couple of spoonfuls . . . because it was not palatable. " (Page 25.) Ken On Sat, Nov 27, 2010 at 12:26 PM, Ann Brandenberger <mrs_bberger@...>wrote: > > > Well Come On! Guest guest
I made a raw pumpkin pie from Cornbleet's website called " I can't believe it's not pumpkin " Pie, and everyone decided they like that better than the real Pumpkin Pie I had also made (it was vegan, but no one could tell). It is made from carrots and it was really delish--so many of the raw and live food dishes are. We have come a really long way! the recipe is at: http://learnrawfood.com/index.php?/articles_recipes/comments/go_home_for_the_hol\ idays_with_raw_food_dessert_recipes/ or go to www.learnrawfood.com and search for pumpkin pie Cornbleet is the Betty Crocker of raw food. She has some great videos on Youtube. I find her first cookbook to be my favorite. Haven't bought the second one on desserts yet, but I am off to the bookstore this weekend. We'll see what I come home with

Guest guest
I confess to being a habitual book buyer. I have most of the sprouting books available from Amazon.ca, and make the rounds of flea markets, yard sales, and used book stores. And I make ready use of the library; the one here is carrying more and more books on raw foods. (I know this is not a raw food list, but a lot of sprouters do incorporate a fair amount of raw foods in their diet.) I am reading Boutenko's book, " Green for Life, " from the library, and it is amazing. I made my first green smoothie last week, and I am enjoying them. Life is good. Guest guest
A lot of folks put sprouts in their smoothies. I am off-season for smoothies right now-I have a Kale-Banana-almond milk one usually every day in the Summer. They had a remarkable effect on my health. I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and was amazed at how good I felt. When the warm weather comes, I don't think I'll mess with putting sprouts in my smoothies, but I do put them in my soups all of the time. (my Winter diet). Sweet Potato-Kale soup with sprouts is a daily favorite. We had a miso soup for dinner tonight that we threw lentil sprouts into. It was awesome. Lorri, do you have the book called " sprout garden " or Sproutman's Sprouting book? I love to read about this stuff as much as I love to grow and eat it all.marion(also an avid library user)
Guest guest
Lorri,Thanks for the recommendation. I had the Desserts book in my hand at Borders today and loved what I saw. I will be ordering it tonight--I " need " to spend a few dollars more on Amazon to get free shipping on my sister's salad spinner. n

My winter body isn't to crazy about them. Its funny that I don't have any of Sproutman's books as it was his silly little Sprouthouse that got me started all those years ago. He pushed this clear plastic house that had trays inside. I used that setup for years. I have his books on my want list at Swaptree. But so far no luck. Though I have had luck with them for old Norman and Ann Wigmore books. Sweet potato and kale and a perfect pairing. I am beginning to think I wish I was your neighbor.
