This is part of topic I've brought up with Dana Reeves death. Many

studies have shown that caregivers frequently become seriously ill

themselves. They have always attributed this to the stress of

caring for someone else. Stress probably plays a part in it but

this all is making me wonder if perhaps caregivers illness could be

sickbuilding illness. Of course Mothers of young children stay home

a lot also. However Mothers of young children, generally are pretty

young also and have stronger immune systems. People caring for

their parents, generally are middle aged, and they stay at home a

lot or perhaps in home or frequenting homes of older people which

due to older homeowners are not kept maintained as well. I know my

aunt's home was getting run down and had several sewer lines backups

before I took over helping her. Being older, she just didn't want

to spend the money to repair or have the interest anymore. I didn't

want to repair since I was too busy with taking care of her, so home

was neglected. I always bought the stress explanation, but with

Dana Reeves, they had so much paid help, that I doubt that she

experienced the kind of stress that most people do who take care of

elderly parent's or relatives themselves.

Just thinking out loud. I just have a feeling that there is some

connection with her caring for her husband and her death so young

and I would assume stress but it just doesn't seem to fit with one

child and the money to pay for any help she needed. I know they had

many professionals come to the home to care for him, and lots of

equipment for him to exercise on at home, etc.

there was an article in the science times a few weeks ago that shows

no correlation between stress and cancer- despite all belief that it

has to be a cause of cancer
