Okay ... I've strung together three old messages from ... the first two from 2002 and the third from 2005.

I hope this helps.

Re: Parkinson's protocols

Hi Mark!

Protocols that have given good results with PD include:

C4 - SMR for rigidity, fine motor movement, reducing anxiety-related tremors, and restful sleep

CZ - SMR or Beta training depending on person - reduces balance problems and akinesia

F3-F4 - SMR training helps with the "get up and go" problems

C4-F4 - SMR increases voice volume

01-02 - SMR or Beta training is great for PSP (a form of PD)

-be careful to not use too much C3 Beta for a depressed PD - it can increase tremors or rigidity.

-inhibits usually are 2-7, however lately the 2-30 (squash) is working wonders for stopping rest tremors

-Keep in mind that Sinemet (L-dopa) increases slow wave activity - so what you may be seeing is a drug effect - test with a TOVA.

-once the PD symptoms are decreased often the side effects of L-dopa and its agonists show up - that is a good sign to decrease a portion of the meds!!

Each PD is different - look at the EEG - what is it telling you? Too much high beta (22-30 hz) or very underactive with high slow wave (2-7 Hz)?

Ask what "off" times feel like - when meds are wearing off or having missed a dosage. This will give an indication once NF kicks in - there is less off times.

For your old fella - it will work - it did for my 91 Y M - stopped his drooling, stooped over posture and was able to get up out of a chair independently after 10 sessions.

There is no published work on NF for PD - I promise that is next on my agenda :)

I can help you out with specific questions as well. Good luck!

Happy New Year!

Next message:

Hi gang,I have been working with several PD patients that have rigidity as primarysymptom and all have experienced a decrease in stiffness and increasemobility with using the 2-30 inhibit. One fella favors C3, 13-16, 2-30, 24'and the effects are holding so much so that his wife can't keep up to theimprovements - she was pacing herself to how he used to be. The couple arefrom out of town and are staying down the street from my office next to anIHOP - this morning he went for breakfast while she was still sleeping.Completely independent to dress and enjoy a meal - previous to this justbrushing his teeth was a timely chore.Another benefit of the 2-30 Hz inhibit at Cz helps for restoring poorbalance - so far. One other area I am seeing a visibile change in sessionwith C4, 2-30Hz inhibit is a complete stop to rest tremor. I haven't gonefrontally yet for PD - anyone else?Next message:

I second this finding as I have had similar results with my parkinson's patients with dementia who have slowed alpha. Increasing the peak alpha frequency has additional benefits for PD including decreased akinesia (rigidity), reduced daytime sleepiness (often a drug side effect) among others.I add this type of training to all patients over 40 -- I refer to it as the brain brightening protocol that Tom Budzinsky described several years ago. Clients report improved word finding and overall mental sharpness increases.
