Guest guest
My mom has recently been diagnosed with cancer and undergone a masectomy and we have found the lymph nodes to be involved. I have her on Essiac and have been reading the healing qualities of kombucha. My father made Kombucha long ago and stopped for reasons unknown. He has alzheimers now. I want to start brewing the kombucha tea for my families health but I was wondering if anyone out there is taking both kombucha and essiac and can give me some feed back about the combination of the two. Also, are there kombucha users out there who are fighting cancer and are you willing to give me any of your alternative healing wisdom? Thanks for any replys, Liz
Guest guest
kombucha and essiac go very well together. And you have several choices ) 1. You can simply create KT and essiac tea separately and then drink together. 2. you can add the dry essiac mix to already well fermented KT making a " tincture " 3. You can add essiac mix to the sugar-tea and then ferment together boil water, add sugar, add black/green tea plus essiac mix. The percentage varies upon individuals. Conventional use is at least 25% real tea. Seep and then remove and ferment 8-14 days or longer. To reduce the sugar as completely as possible. Here I would recommend to use dextrose (also known as glucose or corn sugar) which is 75% as sweet as sugar but does not develop as sour or bitter as white sugar. Dextrose does not develop the babies as nicely as white so don't worry about appearances. 4. You can also make the kombucha as usual and then add a large t-bag (s) or wrap essiac mix in cheesecloth to add to the normal kombucha and allow to ferment (without removing the essiac) for 14+ days. IMO, #3 above does not allow the full value of essiac into the kombucha as it is only seeped for a few minutes and the standard preparation of essiac is to bring to a full boil, cool and allow to stand for 12 hours and bring back to a second boil. By leaving the essiac t-bag in the k-ferment the essiac is actually fermented along with the kombucha extracting its properties. 5. another method is after you fermented k and essiac take the mushroom and then squeeze the " drops " creating your own kombucha-essiac extract. The advantage of the extract is one does not need to take as much (of an otherwise bitter brew) and the convenience. I offer this extract on my website. I use White Tea (noted for its anti-cancer properties) 1/2 ounce per gallon size brew (3 quarts), 1 1/2 cups organic sugar, 1 ounce essaic(dry mix) and allow to ferment for 30 days. I then take the mushroom and extract the drops. The Kombucha House (Australia) and Harald Tietze (kombucha author and herbalist) have experimented with essiac and kombucha as well as essiac and paw-paw leaves in similar fashions as described above. According to Harald Tietze paw-paw (papaya) can be used in any number of ways with kombucha. I have used the skin, fruit and seeds (and the leaves) in various combinations with kombucha. I am still experimenting with the combinations which all look good so far. In the near future I would like to have the batches tested but first I need to define what to look for. (each test is about $170+). My 7 year old daughter who loves papaya and was happy until I dropped the beautiful cut up pieces into the kombucha and then she went ughhhhh! The kombucha paypaya taste OK, the kombucha essiac tea _taste_not so good_. (k-essiac drops are OK) The combination of essiac and kombucha according to Traditional Chinese medicine is good. Both work along similiar lines. Essiac purges the blood of toxins and kombucha breaks the stagnation and detoxifies. Both excrete the toxins out through the urine, essiac also excretes toxins through the stool. For a TCM prescrective of essiac see http://www.happyherbalist.com/essiac_tea.htm So the common warning is to drink plenty of fresh pure water when taking KT or essiac. Recommendation is to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of fresh pure water. So if you weigh 100 pounds drink 50 ounces of water. (1/3 of that in the morning.) If you drink coffee or carbonated beveages add one pint water per cup of that bad stuff. one note is that essiac (or kombucha) needs no perservatives when used in any of the above described methods. (essiac by itself will spoil quickly) It is good to keep refrigerated as the combinations are still a live probiotic, and possible cross-containamtion should be guarded against. Guest guest
Liz, I always hate to mention stuff like this, because A. I have no testimonials from myself or anyone else and B. I hate to have people think I am nuts or into new-agey illogical mumbojumbo. However, still I have come across one really interesting thing about both cancer and alzheimers which may have some validity as hard as it is to believe. The ideas come from Dr. Hulda and maybe you've already tried her theories and debunked them but she says specifically about alzheimers that excess of aluminum in the system have been found in all of her patients with the disease and that they can be given a chemical to help the body expel it from their system and can often make a full recovery. I hate bringing this stuff up because of possible false hopes or just people thinking I'm being ridiculous and getting offended by it, but I know I would try to put the theory to test if my mother or father had one of these diseases... or myself. She was very confident about being able to cure cancer and alzheimers in most cases. Also Dr. Lorraine Day I've heard is a real medical doctor from more recent times than Dr. and actually had a large tumor in the breast and says she cured herself of it and puts out self-curing instructional books/videos that can be easily found. It is hard to argue with someone who actually can prove that they cured themselves of a supposedly incurable cancer. Don't think I'm nuts, I'm just mentioning it in the slight chance that you've not heard of them and may try them and have them work.
