Guest guest
One of our members already does this, has box fans around house with filters attached to them and she says it works well. We are so creative. I put pleated filter over my two cold air returns. My old furnace can take the extra drag because of the additional air it gets from the fresh air intake I put in. The filters get pretty dirty but to make them last longer, I put cheese cloth over them so at least I catch the big stuff in something I can shake off. I can tell it is working because when I go into the furnace to clean the washable filter, it doesn't need any cleaning. If I wash it anyway, wash water is completely clear. It's another version of the fan and filter combo, only fan is furnace fan. One may not be able to do it if they haven't provided additional air volume with a fresh air intake like I did. You don't want to overheat your furnace fan with slow down of air coming through. Incidentally it works so well that someone visiting lite a fire in my fire place without noticing the flu was closed. Shortly there living room was full of smoke. I took a stick and opened the flu. I looked around and was astonished that white flocked wallpaper in living room (someone else put it up)and light, off white drapery were still white but pleated filter over cold air return had turned black and had to be replaced. --- In , " fletch_82000 " <fletch_8@...> wrote: > > http://www.smartermall.com/product.asp?sku=2433374 > > Just add up to a Merv 14 filter here: > > http://www.aeoluscorp.com/products/smp.htm > > > Fletch >
