Guest guest
I'm sure that that would be possible. I had some sunflowers growing in my flower bed this year, the chipmunks plant them, and it looked like the birds and chipmunks probably eat the seeds. I know EW harvests his pea seeds for replanting every year. Guest guest
Well lets try this again. I started a reply and it went to La La land. , I have indeed grown sunflowers to maturity from sprouting seeds bought at Sprout People. They are very pretty and the shrub looks similar to the wild sunflowers that you see along the roads and highways, except a little sturdier. Harvesting them is a real pain and you have to get them before the birds, and in some areas, mice, etc. There are a couple of videos on You Tube that shows home made devices to harvest the seeds. These videos, however, show only the grey and white striped seeds The black oiled seeds that you buy for sprouting , is a smaller head and takes a little more effort. If you want to try this, start a few seed in potting mix in your kitchen window. When the sprout get to be five inches tall - and you haven't eaten them, you can trans plant them into you garden. Sunflowers need at least 6 hours of full sun and regular water. Sunflowers can tolerate an occasional dry period, but will grow taller and stronger with regular watering. Give them a quart of liquid kelp mixture when you first transplant them. After that they don't need a lot of care. Ants are drawn to them, but that won't spoil your crop. Ants are after the same thing that the bees are. Speaking of bees, you will see lots and lots of bees, which will benefit your whole garden. ew Saving Seed from Sunflowers Has anyone tried growing sunflowers from the sprouting seeds and then harvested the seeds for future sprouting? If so, was it successful? Thanks,

Guest guest
Hi : My name is Melody and I sprout broccoli, radish FENUGREEK, etc. I have a good video for you to see. I use the sprout garden (I have two sets). I have this down to a science which gets me out of the kitchen much faster than I did when I first started to sprout. This is one of my videos that I have up on youtube. As you watch me rinse and drain, look at tray number 5. I say " fenugreek " , actually I think the 3rd tray is also fenugreek but I'm not sure, because I have so many trays. The beauty is that this rinsing and draining took me less than one minute and it's all stackable. You can't beat that. And the small amount of space I use is fabulous. Here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-SMt_56zEw Melody > > Thanks for the instructions, I will give it a try this summer! > > >
