Guest guest
'Round these parts (central New Jersey) there appears to be a virus (or whatever it is) spreading. Honestly the number of people who've been infected by it (or " affected " by it, personally, or friends and family) seems enormous. Nearly everyone I know locally find it difficult to believe that " the mainstream media " isn't putting this on the front page, as it seems epidemic . This " flu " is not only highly infectious, it is tenacious. Several of my family, some who live quite separately mind you, have had it and STILL have it, myself included. I guess it's safe to say that antibiotics are in order, but aside from that does anyone have any " emergency " regimen they believe in? I mean, something that might do more than just kill time while waiting for my immune system and or antibiotics to kick in? -bb
Guest guest
Antibiotics? How could antibiotics be useful for a viral infection? Sorry, but I don't know of anything particularly effective for viral maladies. But if you're experiencing symptoms then your immune system is already responding. So help it along by getting plenty of rest, drinking lots of fluids, etc. Best regards, Celeste bb wrote: > 'Round these parts (central New Jersey) there appears to be a virus (or > whatever it is) spreading. > I guess it's safe to say that antibiotics are in order, but aside from > that does anyone have any " emergency " regimen they believe in? Guest guest
OK this answer comes from over the Atlantic (Greece) but I hope it will be helpful. A month ago I had some kind of flu and I say " some kind " because for nearly two weeks I had very high fever 39,6 Celsius (I think that is 103,3 F) pain all over my body and especially in the chest, terrible headache, coughing etc. The strange was that even with injections the doctors could not bring down the high fever. They gave me antibiotics to prevent pneumonia and the only antibiotic that finally worked was clarithromycin. I do not know what type of influenza was that but at this time the hospitals here were full of people that had it and the second strange thing was that most of them were young and strong organisms like me. Otherwise the typical advice is : rest, plenty of fluids and good nutrition. Guest guest
It is also MY understanding that antibiotics do not work against viruses, but DO have a use against bacterial infection. In any case Doctors around here are prescribing antibiotics (and short-term steroidal meds). My guess is the prescribing of antibiotics in this case is to prevent pneumonia which is a very common secondary feature of this " thing " . The fact of it is, my father died of it only one week ago. It was the same strain of virus that the rest of my family has, myself included, and the community around us that began his demise. By the way, the article about Vitamin D and influenza is a VERY compelling read. It may well sound like a rash judgement, but I'm going to take the liberty of making it: It wouldn't surprise me if a Vitamin D deficiency was at least indirectly involved in my father's death. -bb

Guest guest
For bowel flu and colds we drink a quart of 40 PPM the first day, then a cupful twice on the next day; by the third day the flu or cold is down about 80%. The chest flu responds very well to CS in a mist as well. Duncan On 27 Mar 2007 at 12:08, Longevity wrote: > > Posted by: " cherni711@...
