Hi,

Gabi started getting the cranial sacral at like 4 months. The PT

from early intervention had been trained in it. We also went to see

a specialist in it that a friend recommended as being good for

speech issues. We went in at 11:00. it took us almost 2 hours to

get home and she said a new word an hour later. The next day she

said like three new words. She continued on this way until she did

not need speech anymore. we had done the signs with her as well.

The bad thing about that session is that she could not sleep well

after it for about a month. I know it could be that her schedule

was upset and it took her a while to get back on, but it felt like

more than that. So I got scared to take her for the extra

treatments. Now, the OT has been doing it with her and it seems to

be working good. I plan on taking her back to the other cranial

sacral therapist too. I thinkit is important to get references for

the therapist and make sure they have experience with young

children. I guess they have a list on Upledger.com - but i would

really check out someone before going to see anyone off of a list.

We had a bad experience with just getting a PT off of list. I guess

they have taken the MRI right? I thought I read that with a syrinx

and a chiari malformation they can get headaches and scoliosis. My

dd has a small abnormality in her spinal cord that they missed until

I took her to a pediatric neurosurgeon. She did have a small syrinx

but it has gotten smaller so that it is just a dialation in the

spinal cord. Anyway, i really like the cranial sacral, I have heard

others say stuff about the child's sleep being affected by it, but

it was worth all the loss of sleep. Our OT made us get clearance

from the neurosurgeon before she would do it on our dd.
