Melody,In the raw food world, some folks make their own " Green Powder " which is

basically a mix of greens that are dried and pulverized into a powder. The

powder can might have barley and/wheat grass in it. I haven't tried that, since

I am juicing my daily carrots and apples, I just grow some wheatgrass to juice

too. I don't think you can go wrong by incorporating either barley or wheatgrass

into your diet, but since you do eat all of those sprouts, I don't think you

have to go crazy. I mean, I enjoy growing things in the kitchen--but if taking

another supplement or growing something else, or buying another thing adds more

stress, then I think it is not beneficial.:) n

My doctors have told me NOT to drink juice. It's too concentrated for a

diabetic. I know they are talking about fruit juice so I don't do that. But I

haven't juiced any veggies in a long time.

But if I could get the powdered form of the Wheatgrass, well, in addition to my

sprouting, would it be a good thing? Or would I be wasting my money, (given that

I eat broccoli sprouts every single day).

Melody,I am not really qualified to say, as I am not familiar with wheatgrass

powder. If it is dried at a low temperature, (below 115 degrees) that is good.

Will it improve  your health? I am not sure. You could try it, and give it a

month to see if you feel any difference or if your bloodwork is

improved.Broccoli sprouts are amazing for your health. The living foods are

where it is at.

Hi Melody,

I use that product plus a few others that are similar. I don't grow

wheatgrass as I really don't have room.

I believe that you cannot get enough greens into your diet if you are

trying to prevent or fight, as you are, disease. I eat tons...both raw

and cooked. But like many others I find it hard to slug down cold green

smoothies every morning at 4:45 am. My body tells me it wants oatmeal.lol

So I use Amazing Grasses on the days that I just don't feel like I have

had as much greens as I want to consume. I like Ormus Greens and

Vitamineral Green too. But they are much more expensive. The Amazing

Grass I can watch for sale on places like Iherb.com and

Vitacost.com I like the blends more than just the wheatgrass as I

feel it covers more bases. Plus I find the taste a bit better in the

blends too. I just mix it with water or hemp milk and chug it down.To me

anyone who can do wheatgrass shots is a lot tougher than someone who can

down tequila shots.

I don't think that Barley grass is any better or worse than Wheat grass.

Some just feel its more palatable. I wish I had the room to grow my own

but its enough with the sprouts and micro greens...I barely have room

for any more. If you had room to grow it yourself you don't necessarily

have to buy a wheat grass juicer you can blend it with water and strain it.

There are many who feel that wheat grass and green juices have helped

cure them from many diseases. There is tons of info online .

If there is anything I left out that you want to know...just give me a

holler!

I read the reviews. Everyone loves this product but someone said " It's hard to

mix with the juice, but I love it so who cares " .

Why is this hard to mix with juice. I thought I just put a teaspoon of it into a

little glass of water, turn it into a shot, and down the hatch. I don't care

what it tastes like but I don't want to end up with a mouthful of powder.

Any ideas? This one sounds like it's in my ball park.

Oh Lorri, Now I am wishing I were your neighbor. I'd be happy to share my

library and my soups! I am happy with my " virtual " neighborhood. Although Melody

in Brooklyn  and in NYC are pretty close! I completely agree with you that

is best to incorporate as many greens and veggies into your diet as possible.

With sprouting it is so easy. I do really enjoy Kale though. In the Summer, we

do eat more raw foods. My stomach was a little thrown from the holiday foods, so

with my miso soup and brown rice tonight, I  also had an Umeboshi (Japanese

pickled plum--good for whatever ails you :). I buy so many fresh foods at the

market that I tend to hold up the line because each thing has to be weighed. It

is kind of funny. And to make matters even more interesting, I wear a huge white

button on my black coat that says " Shop Cruelty Free " and it has the leaping

bunny on it.marion

The Amazing Grasses deal looks good. I personally don't use that

formulation. I use this...

I use that one because I want more than the Wheat Grass. I want things

like Spirulina and chlorella too.

I have never used the Starwest , but what the heck...its organic and

gets good reviews, for a small price ,from a company I do TONS of

business with (Vitacost). It looks like a good deal to experiment with.

The reason its hard to mix is that its really grass. Dried and finely

ground but still grass. So it doesn't really dissolve 100%. I have

gotten used to it and bet you would too.If the texture bothers you too

much you could mix it in something like applesauce.

About the wheatgrass powder from Vitacost, well before I buy anything online, I

always try and find a promo code for it.

I just found this:

I've taken wheatgrass powders in one formulation or another for years. The first

being the original Green Magma- which sort of started the whole powdered wheat/

barley grass frenzy. I still at times have this, but generally have combination

powdered juice drinks with multiple ingredients including wheatgrass/ barley

grass such as Nulls Green Stuff, Green Magma Plus, Veggie Magma,

Healthforce Nutritionals Greener Grasses and the powerhouse formula Vitamineral

Green formula. Probably one of my favorites is Pure Synergy by the Synergy

company. Amazing stuff. You feel a steady energy after consuming it. As far as

powdered vs fresh " squeezed " , there is something to be said about the quality

and energy and aliveness of fresh juice. However the powders are generally

processed in such a way as to retain a good deal of the " life energy " found in

the living plant/grass so I would definitely recommend it as an adjunct to your

fabulous sprout consumption. And as far as I know, there isn't a great deal of

difference nutritionally between the barley and wheat juices, so either one

should be a nutritional powerhouse.

,when i read your note about the various green powders, I remembered that I

had tried a few--You are right, they are pretty good. I completely forgot all

about them though and when Melody asked, for some reason, I still didn't

remember.When you mentioned Green Magma, well it all came back to me.The Synergy

one you mentioned I think I tried too--good stuff and I think you could even mix

them in with soups.marion(who just made about 3 gallons of Kale-Sweet Potato

soup-and is now onto sauerkraut making)

I use 'Barley Max' from H-Acres. It works best for me. The most powerful stuff I

have ever taken!
