What is the peak frequency of her alpha at P4?

What are the alpha/theta ratios with EC and EO at P3, P4 and Oz?

What happens to the alpha with eyes open?

alpha? I have 46 year old female who explodes ec alpha, all across the back

especially. I'm talking consistent volume of 60 Mv. at Pz P4. She reports

sadness when it calms down following 1c squash. She also reports " stuckness " . I

have seen this before but not to this magnitude. My suspicion is that is where

she is 'hiding' her 'stuff' from a psychoanalytic standpoint. I really don't

have cause to suspect substance of any kind. She is apparently a 'good enough'

Mom, but a lousy wife and is extrememely unmotivated. What do you think?

Peak freq. of alpha at P4= 9.04 ec ; 10.12 eo

a/t: P3 EC=2.21, EO=1.41

P4 EC=2.13, EO=1.51

Oz EC=1.27, EO=1.53

Alpha P3 EC=43.67, EO=16.70

P4 Ec=39.59, EO=16.64

Oz EC=20.67, EO=12.20

It may be noteworthy that she does i.d. herself as having practiced some

meditation of sorts, but when doing alpha theta training she gets'spooked' by

what goes on: " sees the light " , etc.

alpha EC at P4 has a very low peak frequency. Try training 2-9 Hz down and

10-13 or 10-14 Hz up.

Alpha down with EO, especially lower alpha, might also be helpful, though I'm

guessing this may be what you were doing.

One of the things meditation teachers focus on is NOT getting all wrapped up in

the sensory displays (like flashing lights) and focusing on the stillness and

observation.

Pete & listmates,

Reviewing a map today and was reminded of this discussion stream.

Attached please find a Word document with the heads page (%) listed. I was struck by the high alpha percentages in the rear of the head. What do you make of this? I've been thinking of doing alpha/theta training with this person. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Hi ,

This female is a very uptight preschool teacher. Lots of somatic manifestations, and tendency toward depression, possibly unexpressed anger. Lots of muscle tension and difficulty expressing any emotional feelings.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

You don't say what this person struggles with.

Yep, those are pretty darned high! I'm guessing A/T wouldn't be very successful

with this client just yet, since he/she produces such massive alpha with eyes

closed; might never actually cross over down into theta at all.

Of course, as in my post yesterday, the issue of the alpha PF is important, as

is the question of how well the client blocks alpha at task.

Hi ,

I'll throw in my 2 cents for what it's worth. I also had high amplitude alpha in the rear of my head. I hesitated to train it down because it seemed couter-intuitive. I will say that training alpha UP is NOT relaxing to me at all but causes more neck tension and an inability to sleep. And I've never been able to achieve a cross-over with alpha-theta training. So I would NOT train alpha up if it's already high. I was also told this at a conference I attended last week. Since then I've trained alpha down in the back of my head and I'm sleeping better. I've only done it once and will keep a close eye on the #'s. I didn't get your attachment, but if the theta and/or delta is low in the back of the head you might try training those up and see if it is helpful to the client.

P~

Doesn't sound like the best traits for a pre-school teacher. :~(

My own daughter had very high amplitudes of alpha , all over but in one assessment the amplitudes of alpha at OZ was 83 mc. Training it down at Oz A2 with eyes closed felt good, very relaxing.
