Guest guest
I don't know about the casting and the xrays, but I've bee nquestioning the xray techniques the docs have bee ndoing on Colton and now reading all these other experiences makes me wonder which way they should be done. My opionion was as long as they were consistantly doing them the same way I would have comparable results. Colton's xrays continually are done lying down AND sitting up, and continually the sitting scans show a greater curve then the lying down ones. Hopes this helps at all................ (kind of confusing) Jen Mom to Colton - 9 mths - idiopathic 30 degree thoracolumbar curve on their way to Erie! > Hi all > > Sorry I've been away for a bit. Welcome to all the new parents and their babes. We've just got back from our 2nd casting yesterday. They didn't achieve much correction this time, although I know from here and other sites that this is sometimes the way. The first casting brough the curve down from 82 to 38 degrees, and I guess I was hoping for the same this time. However, it's now at 36 degrees, although looks much better to the untrained eye (ie mine). 2 degrees doesn't seem much to me, although it's better than nothing and I shall hold on to that. Usually she is x-rayed standing up, with arms out to the side, but after the cast, she had to lie down and have it taken. There was some confusion over this as the doctor hadn't asked for her to be lying down, but he said that the curve would have been better if she had been standing. This doesn't make sense to me and I thought I'd ask if this is in line with your understanding of x-rays and curves. Also, how long are your little ones out > of their casts before the next one is applied? > > Anyway, the doctor still remains positive that she will do well so we can only hope. After all, we have only been receiving this treatment for 3 months - it's early days yet. > > Hope everyone is well > > > > --------------------------------- > ALL-NEW Messenger - all new features - even more fun! Guest guest
, Don't worry about the 2nd cast. The same thing happened to and also to Evan. was origionally at 50 degrees. In his 1st cast he went to 31 degrees, his 2nd cast he went up to 33 degrees and his 3rd cast he is at 23 degrees. Evan had the same thing happen also. (we are in Utah together) Don't worry about the numbers, it is the overall alignment of the spine that really matters. (easier said then done, I know) Hope this helps, Crista
Guest guest
, 24 hours is a great amount of time. has been out of his cast for as long as 36 hours, and as little as 18. He stays in his cast for 3 months. Glad I made you feel better. Don't worry, I felt the same way until I found out that is quite normal, then I was able to relax. Guest guest
Thanks Crista. That does help, even though I don't wish others to be disappointed also and to get the best curves that they can. How lonf does spend out of his cast before they replace it? is out of hers for about 24 hours, during which the curve seems to relax back to where we started, which worries me a bit. Not sure if it can actually do this, but it certainly looks like it. Thanks for your note. I'll try and stop worrying and cross my fingers for the next correction - should be around Christmas time. --- cristab@... wrote: > > > , > Don't worry about the 2nd cast.
