If you want to have fun, this is the time of the year to buy a Chia Pet. You can

grow your muciaginous seeds on it.

Dill and sprout mixes (was Does anyone use the

easy sprouter from Srpout People?

Luann,

I tend to agree about the Sproutpeople mixes. I haven't tried them all. They are

certainly convenient, and it's a matter of taste. The long life mix though is

really great, but is on a different page from the leafy mixes, I think.

I like to use about 50% clover, 35% brocolli, 10% radish and 5% of a

mucilaginous seed such as arugula or cress. I also use cabbage instead of

brocolli. Sometimes I put in some fenugreek. Sometimes mustard.

I don't actually measure this accurately, but I had to put down something here.

I have a question about dill. I like the Sproutpeople mixes that have dill in

them, such as Russian mix, but want to make up my own similar mixes, but more

flavorful. Does anyone know if dill will sprout like clover and brocolli, or is

it a mucilaginous seed? What about celery?

I know I could just get some dill seed and try, but perhaps someone here has

already tried this.

Also, has anyone tried the terra cotta sprouters for mucilaginous seeds? I still

haven't found a way to sprout those that I really like, although I have tried

hemp bag, soil, and STG pads (Sure To Grow), which all work OK, but I'm still

looking for a better way.

The terra cotta sprouters are expensive, but if they save time and grief,

they're worth it to me.

Best to all,

Nicola

This is the first year I haven't seen one of those chia pets!

Does anyone have a source for dill seeds?

I would like to add them to my sprout mixes. I think might star

selling them. I keep checking their website to see if they have launched the new

one.

Here in CA. they are currently being advertized as being in Sav-On Drug Store.

Do you have that chain in NJ?

No I don't believe we have that but I am thinking that since they are being sold

somewhere, it is likely Walgreens will have them. Will have to check.

Thanks EW for letting me know they ate still being sold :)

Until we have the courage to recognize cruelty for what it is--whether its

victim is human or animal--we cannot expect things to be much better in this

world... We cannot have peace among men whose hearts delight in killing any

living creature. By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic

delight in killing we set back the progress of humanity.
