How do you get the records?

Robbie had his MRI yesterday. I'm so hopeful they say it's just a

wait-and-see situation. But I can't help but think " why did the want

the MRI after the x-ray? Couldn't an x-ray say wait and see? " I

should find something out tomorrow. This waiting pretty much sucks!

Anyhow, how would I go about getting copies of all his records/x-

rays/etc. Do you get the actual films or the dictated reports from

the films?

Hi,

An mri will detect structural abnormalities in the spine. This test will tell if Robbie has structural (congenital), or non structural (infantile, depending on age).

You can request his records in person, or by phone...I always get a quicker response by doing this medical stuff in person, if possible. These are your records, (depending on where you live) so if the radiological techs act like the records are top-secret info, be persistent and get them anyway. Request both the x-rays, and the diagnostic reports. I would also request the docs notes.

Thanks for your reply. I'll be back at Riley on Wednesday (different

kids, different specialists), so hopefully I can get the MRI copies

then. I'll call today and ask for 2 copies -- one for the orthopod

and one for me.

All you need to do is call the doctor's office, x-ray office and hospital

records office to get copies. There may be a small fee involved. I had to

pay $8.00 for one x-ray, but got 8 MRI films free. If you do not get a

response right away, call again, and again.

When I got my daughter's MRI films, they asked me why I wanted them. None

of their business! They do NOT need to have an answer to that question. I

told them that they were for my personal use.

You want to make sure that you get EVERYTHING. Good luck.
