Guest guest
, What do you like about the Easygreen sprouter as compared to jars and trays? ... From: Molloy <jmolloy64@...> Subject: Re: Sprout / wheatgrass lighting ideas Date: Monday, November 22, 2010, 9:02 PM I will definitely be watering w/ the diluted Oceansolution, and its probably a good addition to the soak water as well. I use an Easygreen auto sprouter and have always added some trace mineral drops to the water resevoir. I seem to see a difference in the health of the sprouts and they do seem to grow quicker, although I cant actually prove this. I think the Ocean solution site has some research documentation re: mineral content of treated sprouts-or wheatgrass. I have ordered the Oceansolution so I'll be using it soon and see how it goes. It makes sense to me that it would be of benefit, as the sprouts do take up water in the sprouting process, and would take up the abundant minerals in the solution added to the water. This is probably more apparent when watering greens and wheatgrass but I figure it couldn't hurt w/ the sprouts and possibly make them even bigger nutrient powerhouses than they already are. Guest guest
Melody, I would wonder if it does plants any good as they are kind of different from human beans, if had not told us that he has been using it with no adverse effects. And since he said he saw an improvement in the growth of sprouts while using it I agree that it is worth trying. I need some for my broccoli sprouts right now as they don't look as thrifty as other things I have sprouted... maybe its too early as I forgot to make a record of when I started them. Seems like a long time as I am anxious to taste them. I guess I need to keep a special sprouting notebook. Oh, I did order Ocean Solution and that will be fun to see how fast everything grows in comparison to not using it. I love Thanksgiving but this year I am a little distracted with wanting to start more sprouts and clean out my computer room for place to put plant stand. My husband has so much fishing paraphanelia in the garage there just isn't room for it in there. No complaints as he brought home nice mess of fish last night, for 3rd time in 2 weeks and as long as he did not catch it in the Gulf of Mexico it is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. ... Guest guest
Black Cod (Sablefish) In the deep blue depths of Alaska's pristine waters lies what some would consider the best tasting fish in the world- Sablefish. This incredibly flavorful fish is also referred to as Black Cod or " Butterfish " . It is widely known as an excellent fish for gourmet entrees and well received when smoked. It's name, Sablefish, is thought to be derived from the fact that it has a very soft, delicate texture. It is considered a delicacy by most seafood connoisseurs for it's beautiful snow-white fillets, rich succulent flavor, and velvety texture. If prepared correctly...it will literally melt in your mouth! Re: Sprout / wheatgrass lighting ideas I agree about fish. Guest guest
I agree n. Discountjuicers.com is a great site for juicers/ blenders / sprouters, and at great prices. I bought my juicer and auto sprouter from them. The owner is very helpful and personally responds to emails. Re: Sprout / wheatgrass lighting ideas Ann wigmore's book on wheatgrass is so inspiring. I took a shot of wheatgrass at a health food store and then bought the book. You have a great juicer. If anyone is interested in juicers the guy from discountjuicers.com have many excellent videos on YouTube where he shows you how to juice things and compares and reviews different juicers. Even though I am all set with juicers (I have the omega 8004 & a revile juice fountain) I enjoy watching his videos. I usually drink a lot of juice. After making it fresh I find I can't bear the taste of bottled. Same with sprouts-my own freshly grown are amazing compared to store bought. n >
Guest guest
Most definitely. Once I get the Ocean solution I'll do a comparison. I also have some really bad news. Got home from work tonight, and my wheatgrass has developed some serious mold despite my best intentions spraying w/ peroxide and grape seed extract and growing on peat moss and perlite. I will have to get a fan and air them out. I'm also going to harvest a tray of wheatgrass in my freshly cleaned / sanitized Easygreen auto sprouter w/ plenty of mineral loaded misting water. I might need to buy myself another autosprouter specifically for wheatgrass if it works out well. This mold things got me quite annoyed. I also purchased a bottle of Citricide when I bought the Ocean solution -its all natural w/ grapefruit seed to help prevent mold/ fungus from invading your sprouts/ grass. Here's hoping it works. Guest guest
I'm using the Concentrace myself Melody, but the OceanSolution, while you do have to order larger amounts, is about half the price of the Concentrace if you do the math. Granted, I add small amounts, but an 8 ounce bottle lasts a long time. I did the math , and a liter bottle of Ocean solution might last about 9 months for my sprouting needs. I haven't gotten the Ocean solution yet, so I cant compare the two as of yet. Guest guest
The Concentrace is definitely for people....but sprouts and the Concentrace solution you lovingly feed to your sprouts is also for people! Concentrace directions say to add a small amount to your water/ juices and build up to get an amazing array of minerals and trace minerals into your diet. I just figured adding them to the sprout soak water and misting water would make the sprouts that much more of the powerhouses they already are. Lets make a great thing even better! Saweeeet! No soaking time-just spread them out on the sprouting tray, pop them in the sprouter, close the door, fill the reservoir w/ water ( and perhaps a touch of " magic " mineral solution -) set the timer, put the drain tube in a suitable drainage vessel, plug the old baby in-and your good to go. No more twice a day rinsing's. Just fill the water reservoir roughly once a day and your good to go - and fast like. I actually grow too many sprouts, its so easy. There is a once a week ritual where you disinfect the unit to keep it sparkling w/ bleach water or peroxide-not a big deal. My only complaint is that the units not higher - so I could grow super tall greens in it, but for sprouts-its unsurpassed. If your not sold on the unit- and they are fairly expensive, take a look at the Easysprout growing cups. They are amazing, I still use them to soak my wheatgrass and Sunflower seeds, and for years they were my main sprouter units for all my sprouts. Check out the Spoutpeople site for videos of the Easysprout cups in action. Beats glass mason jars big time! Guest guest
Yep. The Oceansolutions about half the price of the Concentrace. To be fair though, Concentrace is marketed as primarily for human consumption directly, while Oceansolution is more of a high end ocean-non animal mineral supplement for your plants. No middleman for the Concentrace!..... Re: Sprout / wheatgrass lighting ideas Hi. me too!!! I just went online and found this item. It's cheaper than the ocean solution. Give a look. Anyone use this. What is your opinion of adding a few drops of this product to soak water, etc. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=TM-1002 & sourceTyp\ e=ps & source=go & adGroup=Top_500_Trace_Mineral_Drops_TM-1002 & keyword=trace_mineral\ _drops & cm_mmc=Paid%20Search-_-Google-_-Top_500_Trace_Mineral_Drops_TM-1002-_-tra\ ce%20mineral%20drops & ef_id=cIBM69C8AwAAFms:20101123143332:s<http://www.vitaminsh\ oppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=TM-1002 & sourceType=ps & source=go & adGro\ up=Top_500_Trace_Mineral_Drops_TM-1002 & keyword=trace_mineral_drops & cm_mmc=Paid%2\ 0Search-_-Google-_-Top_500_Trace_Mineral_Drops_TM-1002-_-trace%20mineral%20drops\ & ef_id=cIBM69C8AwAAFms:20101123143332:s> Thanks much Melody - > > > > >
Guest guest
Speaking of mold, my wheatgrass is doing okay-But I discovered the arrugula I was growing for a microgreen mix for Thanksgiving got decimated by being too damp. I can probably salvage some of it. I think the problem is drainage-I put them in a container that has poor drainage. My Bad My popcorn greens are growing like crazy though. >

Guest guest
I don't eat any animal flesh or animal products, and agree with --eat plenty of sprouts, veggies, juices, and read labels. If you do eat meat or fish or poultry--find out where it came from, how it was raised, what was it fed. Watch out for antibiotics, hormones, and poor animal husbandry practices (factory " farmed " animals). This is vital for one's health and well-being and also so that one does not support inhumane and cruel treatment of animals. They, including fish, do suffer. Eating animals that were stressed and poorly treated does not promote good health either. As says " Eat more Sprouts " n - Just say no...to the animal flesh stuffs....eat more sprouts! ----- Original Message ----- From: Melody<mailto:eliz7212@...>
Guest guest
, The sprouting machine sounds like just the thing for someone who is not home all day, but I find for my " carefree " schedule that the old fashioned method is just fine, and I am still amazed at how little time and effort it takes to get those buggers to grow. And for the time being I am going to watch the cost of this venture as I have ordered 1 gal. of OceanSolution and a wheatgrass juicer ( not the expensive one) and then there will be the never ending cost of seeds and wheat berries. And with Christmas coming soon and having a big family to make happy on Christmas morning I can only do so much until I hit it big in the stock market. I wish there was a way to harvest your own seeds but have not found any info on that. I also can't find, or haven't yet, how the wheat grass is cut for juicing. Do you use scissors, a small lawn mower or what? Thanks for filling me in on the sprouter, have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving, ... Guest guest
, what a hole in the boat that you found mold on your wheatgrass! And with using peroxide and grape seed extract, that would make me want to go in the garden and eat worms! I wonder if spraying with colloidal silver, which I make, would be any more effective as a preventative, but I also have great confidence in peroxide, maybe upping the amts. of P. would help, ( I doubt that you can overdose with P. as I know people who drink it. ) but if you have ordered Citricide that will hopefully be the magic bullet for never having to deal with mold again. ... Guest guest
Hi -- Thanks, you made me giggle! Wish I had a tiny Barbie-sized wheatgrass rotary lawnmower. Sharp kitchen scissors are just fine. I snip when grass gets to 6-8 " ; consider whether there is moldy fuzz, if so, snip higher, otherwise snip ~1/2 " above roots. (I know some will re-grow for a second crop; I don't use soil so first crop is only one for me. I will allow a second growth for the cats to play with if first growth isn't fuzzy.)
