Guest guest
Hi Sue, There are CPT code books for Psychological Services that give procedure codes for insurance and the usual fee that insurance will pay for the procedures including biofeedback and various counseling codes. The books are expensive so you might ask someone you know who has a larger practice is they can look this up for you. This could be a guideline to see what others may be charging. The code book tends to list a lower amount that insurance may pay, so you can usually change above that rate. Whatever you decide, if you are billing insurance, you need to be consistent with your prices for each procedure so it doesn't look like you are basing your charges on the patient's income. I hope this helps. Guest guest
The secrecy over fees is as lethal a problem for this service as among petroleum refiners and producers. Using " legal concerns " as a cover to keep fee information across the country a secret is far more injurious than open discussions about it. If information is open and available for public consumption, there is less chance of either price fixing or exploitation of services in my view. The legal cautions are acknowledged, but risk in open discussion is not that high, especially if backed by honesty and integrity. Guest guest
The "price fixing" stuff doesn't always make sense, I agree. About 10 years ago a number of colleges got in big trouble for discussing financial assistance money for low income students, with the intent that these students would not have to choose their college based on cost -that is, the cost would be the same at all the different colleges they applied to. The money given these students was very generous and dramatically reduced their actually cost to attend college. However, the courts said it was price fixing. I tend to listen to attorneys on these matters. This isn't and wasn't intended to start a thread on this list serve about legalities, just to provide information to members so they can make a somewhat informed choice. I thought the person who wrote in about insurance companies info --which which alludes to "Reasonable and customary fee information" was probably a good way around the potential legal pitfall I mentioned--insurance company information is generally available to the public and can set a (albeit) low benchmark or guideline. --Warmly, This email and any attachments may contain confidential information and it is intended for the addressee only. Guest guest
One of my resolutions for 2006 is to me more positive and less harsh when making observations (sometimes called criticisms by the un-informed). But on this one I've got to ask: You've noticed lots of "honesty and integrity" in the oil industry, and also the legal profession? Just wondering.... -- A Do Something Useful Re: fee WE have to be careful on this kind of question -- on another listserve ourasssociaton attorney advised us this can be construed as price fixing whichis illegal and the discussions are not permitted. Guest guest
Thanks very much, . I am familiar with the CPT codes. Wonder if folks charge for biofeedback (as it is listed) or individual therapy. Suggesting the oil industry practices anything close to integrity is like saying botulism is innocuous. The legal industry is equally prey to chcanery. I sure hope that was not how my comments drifted! I was saying that it is better to be truthful (not an oil industry characteristic, or FDA, or...oh well) and open in such matters as how fees are determined than to discuss them back door even with acknowledgement of legal warnings that politely mentioned based on her experiences). I am a 58 year old person wearly of secrecy and lies and where they are taking us in world events. Best regards, Aliceann

Guest guest
, I live in Northern Kentucky about 10 minutes from Cinci - I have not yet heard of a NFB person in the area, but that doesn't mean there isn't someone. I am familiar with the TLC to the extent I have done it on myself, and I am in the process of studying to begin practice on the public. I plan on offering service free of charge at first with consent to my rookie status under supervison - Probably in about 3 months. (I'm a psychologist/independent practice owner with 4 psychologists). Kirk RE: fee Anyone know a practitioner who is familiar with TLC format in the Cincinatti area ? Guest guest
, Bill Wing is there. He has done TLC. And there are 2 or 3 more providers listed at BCIA website. Don't know if they do TLC. I am in Dayton but that is 45 minutes north of Cinci. Rosemary - RE: fee Anyone know a practitioner who is familiar with TLC format in the Cincinatti area ?
