Wheatgrass on sand

Hi people,

I've tried to sprout wheatgrass over sand (80%) + organic compost (20%),

but it seems didn't work very well.

My expectative was to improve the drainness of the soil, to avoid mold.

But it happened that actually it wasn't very interesting to the wheat,

so it took longer to sprout.

As a result, it got mold faster... I couldn't use the wheatgrass.

Did anybody experienced this?

Also, the brand of wheat, or maybe the crop I've bought it wasn't very

good... too much shriveled (wrinkled?) grains.

Best regards!
