Guest guest
Hi Tawney That is great news. The cancellation will mean that Tyler is in that cast so much quicker, and will be able to put your mind at rest! I was worried about putting Siobhan in the cast after nearly 2 months of not being braced, but as I've already said, she's doing great. (And still is!). It was the Best Western that we stayed in last time, with the (large) FREE breakfast, and pool. Good Luck, and we'll be thinking of you! Jacki > Hi Guys, > Great news, we are on our way back to Utah next Wed. to have Tyler > casted again by Dr. D'Astou. We thought we had to wait until August > 30th but someone cancelled so we got an appointment. It was so weird > I was in the parking lot to go see Dr. Barmada here in Portland and > beg him to put a cast on Ty until we could get to Utah. I was so > worried and new it was going to be a fight. Then my cell phone rang > and it was Shriners. Even if Barmada agree to cast Ty he has already > said he doesn't have much experience and didn't know how to cast such > a small curve. It is short notice and quite a long trip but > definately worth it. My mom is going with me since my husband can't > take off work. Of course I am nervous since Ty has been out of a cast > so long he is going to be upset going back in. But I know that we > are so lucky to have this option. Hope everyones doing well. Guest guest
Tawney, Thanks for the update. F.Y.I., Parents must be aware that if the series of plaster jackets is removed prematurely, the curve can regress. Its better to have them on for too long, than to remove them too early. The longer the spine is held in the more corrected position, the better chance the spine has of maintaining that growth pattern. Have a nice weekend!
