Some supplements have enteric coatings on them to protect them from the stomach acids. Others such as the fat soluble vitamins would not dissolve in water; Vitamin C from natural sources would be harmed from heat as would some enzymes, etc. You'd have to look carefully at the ingredients and fillers to determine if they would dissolve in water and not harmed or not interfere with their desired action in the body.
