But only in the toilet that my daughter with CF and ABPA uses. It has to sit uncleaned for about three weeks, then a ring of mold that is brown and green with white flecks is prevelent. Did alot of experimenting because it was so weird. Changed toilets for her. She was the only one who used the toilets., etc. Mold grows where my daughter goes..and nobody knows like me. (sick joke). Use Clorox. Sharon

Guest guest
I was getting new one for other reasons. However I used to take mirror to look into places I couldn't see easily to make sure I cleaned everywhere, but when took it out, it was obvious there was moldy, smokey colored water caught in places. Water was held in places inside that I couldn't get to. I also noticed it with sink in same room which will be replaced also because of color changes but in drain hole where you can't get too. Some of these places where mold gets to you can't see and it's hard to figure out. There needs to be more of those mold sniffing dogs. > > Yes. Guest guest
My toilet I found furballs of mold floating in the tank. It's all black in there too and not sure if that is mold or what but since I found furballs, probably mold. Would grow in bowl too and just realized at the end that it was mold and wasn't sure what it was before. Still getting some since I still have spores. I'm getting a new one real soon. I hate that toilet anyway. Can a toilet tank be black and not be mold? Furballs in the tank, geez. I got a chlorine tablet and put in the tank. I haven't looked again. I may have a toxic toilet. Will buy one asap and get that service person to look at my washer leaking from bottom and my sink pipes. Rhonda > > I had a new toilet put in today and got rid of the old one. Guest guest
Dogs should not be sniffing mold b/c it kills them too. They can only find a low amount of molds. I can't recall the number but think it was 14 or so. Poor dogs. Should be illegal b/c inhumane. Rhonda > > > > Yes. But only in the toilet that my daughter with CF and ABPA > uses. Guest guest
I had the same thought when I saw story and was just kidding. I wish there was some easy way to find the hidden stuff though. --- In , " Rhonda " <rhondaleokitty@...> wrote: > > Dogs should not be sniffing mold b/c it kills them too. Guest guest
Remember to look at the back of the tank, and the bottom, mine always had mold there- also clean backs of everything pictures, mirrors and anything pushed up againt the wall will grow mold. > > > > I had a new toilet put in today and got rid of the old one. Guest guest
Someone mentioned putting chlorine in the tank but I was told not to do that as it destroys the rubber seals and other rubber parts of toilet. Perhaps ammonia would work and not bother the rubber parts. I wonder if vinegar would be strong enough. It would sure smell better. --- In , " carondeen " <kdeanstudios@...> wrote: > > Remember to look at the back of the tank, and the bottom, mine > always had mold there- also clean backs of everything > pictures, mirrors and anything pushed up againt the wall will grow > mold. > >

Guest guest
I read this thread of posts with great interest. I recently had problems with smells in 2 of our bathrooms. I tracked it to the toilets. I remember May responding to a post of mine a while back when the discussion of humidifiers came up. He suggested using a few drops of chlorox in them to prevent mold growth. I told him I couldn't tolerate chlorox - would hydrogen peroxide work - he said yes. So for the past few days I have been pouring some peroxide daily into the toilet tanks. And voila - no more smell. Saralee Rosen homerose@... Guest guest
Saralee, How much hydrogen peroxide do you use? Also do you put the HP right in the fresh water tank or have you been putting it into the bowl? When I WAS using chlorine bleach I was putting it in bowl and now I think it needs to go into fresh water tank. One flush, and whatever you put would be gone so I guess you do this once a week or so?? --- In , " Saralee Rosen " <homerose@...> wrote: I told him I couldn't tolerate chlorox - would hydrogen peroxide work - he said yes.
