Guest guest
Hi everyone, We met with Dr. Katz last Thursday. We discussed the MRI results (normal, not congenital) and our options. Dr. Katz spent a lot of time with us, and answered all of our questions. She knew that I questioned the accuracy of the 12/30/03 x-ray (curve measurement 27 degrees), and suggested that we get another one that day. We then looked at the MRI results. I was satisfied that the 12/30/03 x-ray was, in fact, accurate, and declined another x-ray. Dr. Katz allowed us to take photos of the MRI results and x-ray, and I posted them in the photo section. What a great idea! I'm sorry that I can't remember who in this group suggested taking photos. Thank you. Photo tip - turn off the flash and the lights. It worked. We decided to go with the Calabus brace based upon Kaeleigh's age and high activity level. It is made of leather. She will need to wear it 24 hours/day, except for tub-time and swimming. The orthotist is coming to the house on Monday to take measurements. I'll post a photo once the brace is made. A new x-ray will be taken in the brace to ensure that it does what it is supposed to do. We are very happy with Dr. Katz. I am reluctant to get a second opinion, but we will. I just quickly scanned the posts from the last few days. I got the video from and will look at it again for the exercises. Hopefully I'll have some time in the next few days to respond. Thanks for your support. Guest guest
Patty, Does Dr. Kats expect correction in this brace? Was she able to see the video, or did you ask her about the effectiveness of serial corrective plaster for progressive infantile scoliosis? I am just wondering what her reasoning is in not applying a series of corrective casts. Remember, the key is early treatment. just curious,
Guest guest
Patty, Have you done the Metabolic testing to rule out Metabolic and Mitochondrial disease? I was told my older son had CP and he didn't. Does she have Clonus? Does she have hypertonia or hypotonia? Crista
