Guest guest
Hmmm... Can't you figure out how to use a spam filter? It's a regular part of my email use! Guest guest
Didn't mean to seem sarcastic! On rereading, I still don't think I was. It's just that you appear to be intelligent and educated and yet at a loss to deal with the real cyberworld. Filters are a part of it and really old hat by now. Spam is also a part of it. Expecting the world to conform to YOUR expectations is really a bit much except maybe for Sethians (Jane ). Chuck What do people in China call their good plates? Guest guest
Today I joined the HolisticNutritionandHealth Group. It's a group that doesn't permit commercial messages or spam (like the message from dr_enzyme). I think I will probably opt out of Longevity unless the owner or moderator takes appropriate action to stop the spam here. Guest guest
Why do you need to be sarcastic? I only view this group's message via 's web group interface. I don't get them in my e-mail. Then it is rather curious that you would endure reading the group via 's advertising abundant web interface. Do you have an advertising filter on your web browser? -- Steve - dudescholar1@... Guest guest
I disagree. I own/moderate several and figured out more than a few years ago how to spare my group members from spam messages. It's not difficult and certainly not an unwarranted expectation. If the group owner or moderator writes me privately I will be happy to explain how its done. Guest guest
Not at all curious. I subscribe to more than a few dozen groups and do not want the separate e-mail messages to categorize in my Inbox. I already have enough rules going for all the other e-mail that I get. Guest guest
I do agree that most spam can be avoided in email lists but as to getting any mail into MY inbox, I get about 500-1000 emails a day and NONE of them get saved into my inbox (only about 10 are spam). Everything is sorted and filtered into appropriate folders. Some folders are read right a way, others are scanned quickly every several months. I'm quick on the draw with the delete key. I have two broadband connections and a dual wan router with load sharing and still I can't get to work at anywhere the speed of the keystroke/mouse control of a local email reader since there is no need to download and draw the next web page. In the time it takes to go to the next message (and to bypass an advertisement), I can scan and delete 5-20 messages. I can sort by subjects and delete (or filter) an entire subject, something that can't do. Additionally, I save email that I think worthwile and can find it quickly at a later time, something almost impossible on since you can only search portions of one email list at a time. In any case, using to read your email lists, a very time consuming interface, seems counter productive when at the same time you complain about a couple of spam that take far less time to delete than to even log into . 's interface is designed to maximize advertising views while a decent news reader can edit every incoming email and remove all of 's advertising appendages. Use your time wisely - cheers. -- Steve - dudescholar1@... " If you are only skeptical, then no new ideas make it through to you. Guest guest
Not when one is not able to use the same PC all the time. Most of the time I have to use a laptop which I'm not going to bring home every day. I have better PCs at home. If I could use my home PC all the time it would be great. Everyone has a different situation.
