Hi Dale:

I wanted to add a little to what Jim said. I totally agree with Jim,

but there is another important point to mention. Obviously you're

doing detoxification, which is very good and also

essential. However, any detoxification without blood glucose control

is not very effective, although certainly being detoxified will help

your body control its glucose levels.

Many people who are on very health-conscious diets with supplements

and antioxidants etc. pay little attention to blood glucose, yet it

is the strongest promoter of aging in the human body unless you

smoke, drink heavily or take dangerous drugs.

I have found that an Ayurvedic herb, Gymnema Sylvestre, extremely

helpful in controlling blood sugar. It is more effective than the

drug Metformin and similar drugs. When I take it 45 minutes to an

hour before a meal with carbohydrates, my blood sugar will almost

never rise over 90 mg/dl after the meal. It is truly amazing and

extremely effective. I've been using it a month now and by results

measured with a blood glucose meter it is totally effective. In

addition, I get a much better level of satiety as well, not craving

more food as quickly. In addition, I've been losing fat around my

middle without otherwise trying. When I remember to take Gymnema

Sylvestre well in advance of a meal, I never have blood sugar peaks

and my blood sugar goes to a resting level much lower than before as

well - in the neighborhood of 70 mg/dl. This means much lower levels

of glycosylation and higher levels of health, and all this time I

feel better, have plenty of energy and am losing fat on my

body. Excellent! Any detox should include detoxifying sugar levels

and Gymnema Sylvestre is a powerful, inexpensive way to help to that end.

Hi ,

Sounds pretty promising. Could you provide the source, dosage and % of

the extract (assuming it's an extract).

Thanks!

Hi:

You can get it at virtually any health or supplement store. For the

capsules of the extract that I am currently using,

is where I got the supplements, the first two on the list, for a

total cost for both of about $20. Gymnema Sylvestre is available

from many sources on the Internet, this just happened to be the least

expensive I could find that I trust from experience, and I can

attest, it works. I just had a breakfast earlier today with eggs and

artichoke hearts, which I love. This same breakfast used to push my

glucose to 150 mg/dl as measured with the Accu-chek Compact meter -

on a consistent basis and without fail. I took two of the 300 mg

Sylvestre extract caps (from the same source, above) prior to

breakfast and my glucose is 87 mg/dl. This has been a consistent

effect. I've had the same result many times now and it is always low

if I take GS prior to eating. It is powerful and amazing. I find

that the pure extract works just as well as the

with Cinnamon and Mulberry. There are many bulk sources as well,

like the ones posted for Ashwagandha recently. The extract seems

most powerful.

Hi Dave:

Yes, I just got these from

=10001 & langId=-1 & catalogId=10051 & productId=12213 & R=11151>Swanson

Vitamins, a low-cost (not bulk, but very low cost) source that I

trust and have been using for some time. It is a standardized

extract, not a specific percent extract, thus giving the most

consistent results. Each capsule delivers 300 mg of guaranteed

potency Gymnema standardized to 75% gymnemic acid. I take 2 caps

before meals. From my measurements, it is best to take it with a big

glass of water at least 1/2 hour before the meal. It is still quite

effective if taken just before the meal, however, just not as

effective as if taken earlier. It is likely that one capsule would

be just as effective - my next test. The results are consistent and

reproducible with me over a month and not measured by " how I feel "

but by a glucose meter and that compared with the same meal without

the use of Gymnema.

PS I believe that the two sources recently posted for bulk

Ashwagandha have Gymnema Sylvestre extract as well.

Hi Jim:

I'm not overweight either, but taking Gymnema has still reduced the

small amount of excess fat I have around my midsection. I've tried a

bunch of things for this because I vainly want to show a very lean

" six pack. " See my other posts today on where I bought it.

I've never gotten any effect on my blood sugar readings from using Gymnema

Sylvestre but I take some every morning for other reasons. Some where I ran

into some research that showed that it had an ability to regenerate insulin

producing cells over time.

Swanson has a section on their site that lists products that are effective for

blood sugar issues. There are many.

Re: Digestive Enzymes/ Probiotics

Hi:

Your point???? There may be many, but I have tried them all,

including some not here, such as Ginseng Berry (not root), which

works pretty well (better than cinnulin) but also is a strong

stimulant. Gymnema Sylvestre works so much better than anything

else, it is amazing. I am not talking about how I feel, I'm not

talking about a study wherein there was a 10% improvement. I'm

talking about a complete absence of high blood sugar readings as

measured by a medical instrument. These are real results, not hype

from someone selling something. I am sharing my results and I don't

care where you buy it. I hope you get it for your own good, but it

won't benefit me.

For someone who is truly diabetic, the combination pills may be more

effective and there are many of those (There are a few that I could

recommend that include GS). Nevertheless, my experience and the

research indicates that this herb is possibly the most powerful thing

short of insulin or IGF-1 injections for lowering and stabilizing

blood sugar. I wouldn't recommend any supplement, drug or

combination therapy for controlling blood glucose without this herb

included. Believe me, it is not just another mildly helpful

product. It alone has completely controlled my blood sugar which no

other single product was ever able to do.

Hi:

I'll have to try Banaba. Have you tried it? I see that

has it for $6.99 in extract form. I'll give you results when I

do. The body of research and experience is far greater and stronger

for GS, however, I can see that at a quick glance.

I totally agree that some people will need additional

support. However I have been in correspondence with a type 1

diabetic that has decreased her insulin requirement from 90 units per

day to 60 after one month's use of Gymnema Sylvestre. (concentrated extract)

Hi Steve

Do you take a standardized concentrate or just the herb? At what

dosage and when with respect to meals? When to you measure blood

sugar and what are your readings? Timing is important in

relationship to meals both in taking the GS and in measuring the

BG. Ideally take the GS CONCENTRATE at least 1/2 hour before a meal

and take the BG reading 1/2 hour after the meal. Yes, there is some

evidence of beta cell regeneration. My experience is that it also

increases insulin sensitivity, contrary to some stated opinions.

... just want to say thank you so much for sharing your experience.

I've pulled out my bottles out & started taking again. In past I had

taken GS sporadically, after meals, and without any scientific feedback.

I searched a few places to see if I could find anything negative. I

didn't find anything. Here's some places I looked.

http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/index.html

Thanks again.

I am giving the Gymnema Sylvestre a try after reading your results.

One thing, though, I do not need to lose any weight. even though I

could take a couple of inches off the waist and not miss it. Do you

think it will know how to handle this ;0) What is the best source

that you have found?

I am thinking that the zeolites should marry nicely with the herb in

overall effect... what do you think?
