Thats what i used too , and it seemed fine, but check out the

article.

great to know you used it to, because my batch is only about a week

old, and I was wondering if I should huck it.

Pam , i've used Earl gray for years, always great. what i think is that the

possibly damaging volatile oils have all volatated (hehe) in the dry tea.

however the fresh bergamot and citrus oils etc would be a different story.

from my experience, you don't need to worry, and i've used it from many many

different sources over the years.

On the whole this is true, and fancy flavours ought to be added

after brewing process is finished and be added to the bottles. e.g.

slices of ginger.

However, I do use a small proportion of Earl Grey tea in my green/black

mix of tea. This adds a lovely edge to the flavour without damaging

the Scoby. My Scobys are very healthy things.

Colleen brewed with Earl Grey tea exclusively, I believe, and

never recounted any problems.
