Guest guest
Pam , i've used Earl gray for years, always great. what i think is that the possibly damaging volatile oils have all volatated (hehe) in the dry tea. however the fresh bergamot and citrus oils etc would be a different story. from my experience, you don't need to worry, and i've used it from many many different sources over the years. blessings mark Earl Gray Tea > > > > I just read somethin interesting about Earl gray tea that I wanted > to share. > In an article about Kt > on www.growyouthful.com Its says Earl gray tea has > bergamot and citrus oil, and using that or other herbal oils can > kill your fungus. > It also says that after years of people testing other things. > Just plain old tea and sugar seems to work best.Pam > > > > > >

However, I do use a small proportion of Earl Grey tea in my green/black mix of tea. This adds a lovely edge to the flavour without damaging the Scoby. My Scobys are very healthy things. Colleen brewed with Earl Grey tea exclusively, I believe, and never recounted any problems.
