Guest guest
Okay Were back! We went to go see Dr. Desai today, He is a pediactric Nuerologist. I went in there with my boxing gloves on ready to let him know that I Will fight to get the right care for my child. Big Kuddos to and crista for advising me before I went. I really felt smart in there! LOL!!!!! He said that she is by far the happiest baby he has ever seen....and that he did notice some developmental delays. She is about on a 5 month level and she should be at least on a 7 month level. She is " with it " when it comes to her brain though. He said its all motor skills delay, like she should hold her head really well, and at least be trying to sit up or stand. So, before I could even speak he rattled off all kinds of test he wanted to do. He said he would cover ALL the bases. He is going to set her up on physical and occupational therapy 3X's a week. He said that she should be caught up in no time. He thinks that it is a good possibility that she is behind only for the simple fact that she was almost a month early and because she has spent almost a total of 1 month in the hospital(with respiratory problems) since she was born. He said that he really doesn't think that she has some type of syndrome, but he is going to check, just to make sure. I asked about doing an MRI and he said that Dr. Kerpsak,(her Pediactric Orthopaedist that she will be seeing next week) Will want to do the MRI. He said that he has worked with this DR. before and that he won't step on his toes. I was really impressed with him, Great bedside manner, He really listened to us. Next Tues. is when we will see the ortho man and then we should have alot more questions answered. Thanks again for all of your help Kelley
Guest guest
Isnt Chesney 7 months? I thought I read that she was... maybe im wrong. Anyway, it sounds like you had a great doctor and a great prognosis!! Im happy for you all! Nate didnt sit up unassisted until he was over 7 months, he crawled at 6 1/2 months. Hes just now walking (somewhat) and he just turned 15 months. And he was late! All babies are different and develop at different rates. Two months may seem like a big delay but its honestly pretty normal. I think its AWESOME that shes going to PT. What a great doctor you have! Grab a hold of him tight!! Doctors like him are hard to come by! Congrats on the visit! Keep us posted on the ortho appt!!
Guest guest
, Yeah Chesney is 7m but she will be 8m on the 22nd of this month. I know I was really shocked by how nice this Dr. was. You could tellthat he really wanted to help our family. I'm really happy, mostly for her but my sanity was beginning to be compromised. This was a boost that I really needed. Anyway, I feel good about the road ahead of us. She has a pulmonolgist appt. and an Ortho appt. Next week. We'll continue to keep our fingers and toes crossed. I can't say enough, how AWESOME this group is, it really has been my saving grace(with they exception of the " Eye in the sky " ). I'm truely blessed to be surrounded by all of you, and will continue to be greatful for all of the advise and shoulders to lean on you guys have given to myself and my family.
