Guest guest
Hi Patty, If you can find yourself at least one sun tea jar with a spout, you can use it for bottling by just dumping your finished brew in when ready and dispensing as needed. Or I found this brew site http://www.northernbrewer.com/siphon.html that has an actual siphon starter called the " Fermtech auto siphon " , a small one is $9.00. The 5/16 " tubing needed is only 35 cents a foot, and a tubing clamp for 50 cents. Once you start the siphon you can fill bottles with the tube and control the flow with the plastic tubing clamp. Using a tube makes it easier to fill several bottles in a row as opposed to using the spout on the suntea jar, although in my opinion the sun tea jar is easier to clean and is " self contained " . There's always the low-tech method of pouring the tea into a pitcher and using a funnel, that works too. " The natural tendency of the human body is to move towards health, the more aware of this we are, the more we can move out of the way. " Beau B. Are you brewing with GREEN tea? This would be the best one against your condition. Do you drink enough clear water and not just the KT? Water is so important for flushing the toxins out of your body after the Kombucha has grabbed them. If you have problems with the water (I do!) I down a glassful (cold or hot) and then reward myself with a glass of Kombucha to follow. If plain water is too terrible to consider ;-) you could mix a bit of fruit juice in with it or fruit tea... anything non-diuretic. > I am just afraid I am not doing things correctly. Any particular questions there? As long as you follow your chosen recipe of making proper tea (green) with white sugar, letting it cool to almost cold before adding culture and starter, and using a generous amount of starter with a goodly amount of yeast sludge ... Leave your brew sufficiently long to ferment until there is a good acidity (my last one needed 10 days!) > I am not so sure that I can feel or see a difference with me esp as I appear to be coming down with a head cold. With cancer your immune system is already overworked, so your body will be going clappers to deal with those cold germs as well. Keep drinking as much Kombucha and water as you can tolerate. > Overall, I seem to be doing pretty well. A week after my first chemo treatment, the primary cancer site was reduced by 1 cm. That has to be good. Wonderful. > I am sorry if I ask redundant questions... Dear Patty, there are no redundant questions. Just ask them when they are coming up. That's what the list is there for: to support one another without feeling pressurised. BTW, are you getting into a routine of brewing Kombucha, that you have always some on the go? When first starting brewing, this takes a bit of patience... getting just to the right amount of KT that will eventually serve both you and your animals. Take care and allow yourself lots of rest, and of course Kombucha Tonic. kombuchaly with friendly greetings, Margret:-) -- +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Minstrel@... www.therpc.f9.co.uk +---------------------------------------------------------------+ The King of love my Shepherd is
Guest guest
Thanks. I wasn't able to find any of the tea jar things. Apparently it is a summer item? Anyway, I am enjoying my tea. I now have my second batch and I think I did get a little of the bubbles back. I have to say, I do like them although it isn't the end of the world one way or the other. Guest guest
Patty, Someone probably already mentioned that temps below 75F don't produce as much fizz. This is the #1 factor for my brews being very bubbly or not. Guest guest
Patty, I was having problems locating the seasonally elusive sun tea jars as well. Someone on the list mentioned that they had found them at goodwill/thrift stores. I went to 2 thrift stores and scored 4 sun tea jars for $6. Good luck. > Thanks. Guest guest
Thanks. Well we are cooling down now and I might have to put on heater. It has been hot but I keep my summer time heat at 80 degrees. I don't like a cold house and I don't like big electric bills!
