,

I want to know which nurse you spoke with! I would love to see if they have a support group for Congenital as well. That is great that they will do the casting. Wish it were a possibility for , but it isn't.

I, too, am impressed with the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Ortho Staff. We met a Dr. in the Fellowship program yesterday that was great (easy on the eyes as well, but I digress) he asked permission to examine , he was kind of "excited" because he said he had never seen a child so young with Klippel Feil. tolerated him very well - but then she likes to flirt with older men (he was probably in his 30's) He was very gentle with her, and told us she was beautiful (which she is, but we are biased.)

I, too, have an extra room if anyone needs it!

Okay heres what I have found out so far...They do Risser casting on various ages for various medical reasons, which does include Infantile. The youngest child they have casted was 6 months, although not for scoliosis, but the same cast type and shape was applied. They do what they call "serial corrective casting" which in thier terms means, in a case for 6wks - 2 months... then in a brace for about 2-3 months to see if it holds. If not then back in a cast. They have very few severe cases in which they needed concurrent castings.Risser casts they apply do go to "about the earlobe.. but just in front to keep the head from tilting down. they should still be able to move side to side" she also mentioned the back is sometimes higher if they have a higher thorasic curve. The nurse there had never heard of Min Metha... although Im sure she has and just doesnt recall. She was VERY interested in the info I was able to give her about her work, and what we are doing. She sounded inquisitive about the American Study, but she wasnt the doctor and couldnt say anything about his interest. She is sending me photos through the mail of other children, although not as young as ours, but assured me that the casting would look the same just smaller scale. She also has a support group for infantile just starting back up again in Cincy. She is sending me info about that as well. Ill forward everything I can get ahold of as soon as I get it.Im just soooo impressed with that office I could bust. They never once questioned my motives or made me feel like I was asking to much or being "too involved." Im so happy I have found such a great place!!, If I were you I would get in touch with this office. I can give you the info if you like. They seem like they have the perfect attitude and very open minds. It just seems to fit well with what your trying to do with ISOP. Im not sure what you need but im sure they can help and would be VERY interested in hearing what you have to say. Just a thought. (Now that I say this they might turn out to be the EXACT opposite!!) LOLCrista... keep those options open!! I think its a great Idea to bring in photos... hey.. if you decide to come my way I have 2 extra rooms!!! :) (thats an offer, not a joke) Keep us posted!!! Is feeling better??? Give him a kiss for us!! XOXOXO
