I put my jar in the oven with the oven light on over night and in the day time I

leave the jar on top of the stove if I need the oven(but not on the burner where

the vent is) Works great, but don't forget them!

Karron, my house gets down to around 70 at night and I'm still sprouting. They

don't grow as fast, but they grow. Do you have any room in your house that stays

warmer than others. No one says that the sprouts have to stay in the kitchen.

PS: if your hot water heater is in the house, its warm around it. Also, the top

of you refrigerator will be warm. Your sprouts could have bottom heat.

of the fridge.

My kitchen gets down to 62 at night and my sprouts are doing fine. Sometimes

they might take an extra 12 hours--no more.

Phyllis;

I am surprised your sprouts survive. I had trouble when I let the house cool

down over night. I guess I had other problems than temperature.

Have you thought of using some caulking, tape or even kids plasticine on the

cracks? On windows you don't look out much, tape a piece of plastic over the

opening. It really helps to stop the air flow.

afford the heat bills. This morning, it was 8 degrees. I have my spouts on a

shelf over the kitchen sink. I grow them in a Bioset sprouter, from

nysseeds.com. They grow fine.

Then, I turn it off. Sprouts are happy, I am happy.

the wind whips through the cracks and really puts a chill in the air in here.)

Thank you for the suggestions. I do have rope caulk around every window. I keep

a rolled rug against my door, as the crack under the door lets the North wind

in. Fortunately, I am nestled in between apartments that put on the heat, so I

get some help there. The linoleum floor in the dining area and kitchen are a

problem. They are over concrete, and the floor is very cold. Bought slippers

with rubber soles also. That helps.

The sprouts do fine in all this. They take a day or two longer to sprout, but

are very healthy, green, and nummy.

Thank you for your concern.

Phyllis
