Siobhan's update...

Hi All,

I haven't posted here since we took Siobhan to see Dr D'Astous at

Shriner's in Utah. At the time she was in the Boston TLSO, wearing it

23 hours a day, and her curves had just gone from 30/35 to 21/26. Dr

D'Astous decided to wait before casting Siobhan, as the brace

appeared to be holding her curves. We were so relieved!

We have just returned from our x-ray with our usual ortho here in

Vancouver, where he x-rayed Siobhan out of the brace, (we took the

brace off the evening before, as I thought I'd read that to get an

accurate reading the brace needed to be off for a certain number of

hours). Well her lumber curve OUT of the brace is now 38 degree's.

This is a big disappointment to us, as we'd really been hoping that

the brace was working.

The Orthotist is going to make some more adjustments to her brace,

and we'll go back in 4 months, and see how the brace is working. If

Siobhan is x-rayed out of the brace, and the curve is increasing,

we'll be taking Siobhan back to Salt Lake City, to see if Dr D'Astous

is willing to cast her.

Thanks all for taking the time to 'listen'.

Take Care

Jacki

Hi Jackie,

Sorry to hear about Siobans curve regression...

Please keep me posted on that, and let me know if or how I can be of assistance to you and your family...

Sincerely,

---Hi ,

We are still taking the wait and see approach, not the best, but our

only option right now. The orthotist is going to make some

adjustments, and we'll see where the curve stands in 4 months. I'm

really not sure how long the brace is supposed to be off before an x-

ray? So if you or anyone could post the answer to this?

It is very reassuring that we do have Dr D'Astous to go back too, if

and when we need too, and thats all thanks to you!

Good luck with your first board meeting!
