Guest guest
Ok, I missed something. I work a lot and belong to a number of lists and I delete a lot without reading out of necessity. I am wanting more info on testing ph on the kombucha tea. I am sure I will not be making my own strips. I am way too busy to think of it?:>)) Patty pH again Hello, There was some discussion a few days ago on pH. Some folks use pH strips to test their KT and others use it to test their saliva to determine their body's pH. Here is a link on how to make your own pH strips from red cabbage. http://chemistry.about.com/library/weekly/aa012803a.htm My only suggestion would be to buy water from a water purification store and ask for the pH of the water so that you have an idea of how the water is affecting the pH of the cabbage (see article). The strips that you buy in the store are expensive, at least $14 for 50 strips and they will become ineffective over time if you don't use them. Cabbage is a lot cheaper. Hope that helps,

My taste buds have always been more than adequate in determining that. The fuss with testing strips is one thing I would never waste my time on... but that's me. So Patty, if you're too busy for ph strips, don't worry :-) nminstrel in perfect ph..armony;-) -- +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Minstrel@... www.therpc.f9.co.uk +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Clones are people two. Guest guest
You don't have to test the pH for KT; some people do to tell when the brew is ready. And some folks want to know what their own pH is because of books like " The pH Miracle, " which says that raising your pH will make you feel better. You don't even have to make pH strips, a simple solution will do. Just boil red cabbage for 10 minutes. The water in which you boil the cabbage will turn red. Strain out the cabbage and keep the red water and use it as a liquid pH solution.
