I believe they travel ok.. Yes, the cultures would travel o.k., but I found that your customs have a prejudice against the gentle and beautiful Kombucha Culture (Scoby). I went to all the expense to send one to a friend in Tasmania. Customs sent a letter to this friend asking him to a ridiculous location to pick up this 'dangerous substance'. Of course, he did't. He decided in the end not to bother with brewing. I'm convinced that there are a lot of brewers 'down under'. There was one (at the time of the legendary Cyril Crewe) who had a great input into the list, a very knowledgeable brewer... .....'Pyman' or something like that. Sprite, you were there at the time as well, do you remember? Anyway, Jan, I'm confident that sooner or later you will find a Kombucha Culture. Blessings and all the best, Margret (minstrelPegg)
Guest guest
Margret, Yes dear, you did great! The url you gave Jan is the url for the Australian Kombucha List, Which I believe is owned by Trevor Pyman. I may be wrong. But anyway hopefully Jan will be able to get hooked up to scoby now. If not, get back to the list maybe something can be worked out. Luv, Sprite " When you drink the water, remember the spring. Guest guest
You should try the kefir group, also. Often many who do kefir do kombucha, as well, and I have seen KT staters offered on that list. There are many in Australia on that list, so give it a try.
