It can be risky messing with hormones, the treatment may have be

ineffective, only partially effective, have adverse side effects or

damage a feedback system in the body, but still get approval and be sold

to naive patients.

Fear may cause people to change their minds about the ethics of

potentially more effective, but locally unethical or unlawful, research

and treatments. Some wealthy people already seek out medical treatments

abroad, which are not regarded as ethical or legal in their own countries.
