ooops! I accidentally sent my message before I was done. I was born in

1968 =:o

I bet it has really changed since then..

Look Dear, we are all just trying to get by in this world. If you must be a

part of this stop putting everyone down. We all are here for support from

each other. I don't believe you are healthy as you say or you wouldn't be so

nasty. I don't want you life (I am going to heaven) by the way whereever is

spelled wrong. See we all have something in common, we are human. Have a

blessed day, to the list.

Hi everyone,

Yes Kim I have lots of trouble sleeping all night very seldom do I get

over 3 to 4 hours and then wake up if not less. This has been going on

for a long time now I also have the nights where I have to get up

because I can't breathe this has been happening off and on since I was a

kid and I could never quite pin what was causing it if it was anxiety or

what now after my dx of CMT 6 yrs. ago I have come to discover other

cmter's with this same problem. As for flu shots I refuse to get them

because have seen too many people come down sick after taking them this

is however my choice to do so.

Vegetables high carb? I'm not so sure. Grains are, yes. But vegetables are

the most balancing, regulating, smoothing influence. Their neutrality is

outstanding!

Dear Jessie:

The current combo therapy has some across the board common side

effects, and many other people experience different degrees of possible

problems. The most common type of side effect is a " flu like " pain.

These usually affect the joints, so your feelings of pain are most

probably linked to the treatment.

Also, like anything else that is chemically affecting your body, for

the entire course of therapy you're probably anemic, your potassium and

sodium may fluctuate, which will affect your muscles. If you had any

arthritis, the treatment may make you more aware of it.

While many people find that the degrees of " pain " decrease over

time, each of us are different, and therefore may be more or less

sensitive to changes occurring in our bodies. Also, the medications

affecting other parts of your body as well, and there is a snowball

effect. If you throw off one hormone, or your body changes how it

produces or uses certain proteins and sugars, it will affect other parts

as well.

I could offer a whole science lesson on pathophysiology and

pharmacology, (what is produced by different organs and cell use, and

how it all fits together, as well as what different medications may also

have an impact), I am sure you would get bored quickly, and I am not

sure it would make the whole picture any clearer for you, at this point.

As lousy as it may sound, what you are experiencing is uncomfortable,

painful, or any other different terms, BUT, like the hair loss many

suffer, if it is caused by the medication it will go away in time, and

definitely after you stop the meds.

Try to hang in there, and you can use ibuprofen, 600-800 mg every 8

hours, as needed, (thats 3-4 pills of the over the counter strength).

Just take it with food, and if you want to be extra careful, try taking

either something like tums, or pepcid, or whatever works for you to

decrease the joint pain. You can take 400 mg every 4-6 hours instead, as

needed, but, use the same precautions for your stomach. Talk to your

provider and make sure its not something else, (which it most likely is

not), and ask him/her to suggest something to ease the discomfort.

Hopefully your body will get use to it and the pain will decrease.

But, assuming everything else is normal, you need to get something for

the symptoms. In the long run, your body will take care of itself. Marty

Peg is interferon, made a little differently. The

interferon is " pegylated " which entails adding a

molecule to it which stabilizes it and it lasts much

longer. That's why you only have to take a shot once

a week. They are also reporting better results with

it. Anybody feel free to correct me where I may have

gone wrong, but this is as I understand it. -dz-

I have been on the regular combo and naturally, I hope

I never have to stick another needle in me. Being a

realist, I know there is a chance of relapse. I think

I would consider the Peg tx. It would be frustrating

to go through the whole thing again, but not hopeless,

I've talked to several people who found success on

their 2nd or even 3rd try. I kind of look at it like

having to repeat the 2nd grade... :)

The Video The Early Learner at Home shows specific techniques that

encourage speech from simple sounds. It shows by voiceover, diagram and

subtitles exactly how we got Ethan (my second ASD child) to produce speech

under instructional control, and also spontaneously. Most of our methods

come from the Verbal Behavior teaching procedures. These are described very

well on www.christinaburkaba.com (no relation). A book that focuses on

bringing out speech in autistic children that I highly recommend is Sundberg

and Partington's Teaching Language to Children with Autism and other

Developmental Disabilities (found at www.diffroads.com). Both links can be

found at www.autismteachingtools.com . So there are three places to get you

started. If she has such difficulty making words, she is likely very

dyspraxic. Often for dyspraxic children, increased attention, increased

structure, performance anxiety all make it harder for the child to produce

sounds. Creating a lower stressed teaching environment may really help, and

using music to encourage word flow may also be beneficial. Giving them a

simultaneous motor task to do (E.g. Producing a sign language sign) at the

same time as you are requiring the speech may also help " Loosen the tongue. "

Good luck.
