Guest guest
I am curious. Did you say that Zane does NOT have congenital scoliosis? I think I missed that part. Have they done an MRI? And theres nothing they can see that is wrong with him? That sounds like a great place to take him. They seem very " up-to- date " Just not sure if your thinking surgery or not... Do they do casting there? If thats an option for Zane that is. Of course, that depends on the cause of his scoliosis. Which is why I posted the origional question. I am dying inside waiting for Nates appointment. I feel the seconds tick by like HOURS!! There are so many questions I have!! Ive called the office hes going to like a HUNDRED times asking things. They finally just told me Ill have to wait til hes seen before they can answer ANYTHING!! All I know is that they have the ability to test him THOROUGHLY and if he needs anything else, we'll just have to " wait and see " Dont you just LOVE those words!!!!! AAARRRR!!!! Im going NUTS!! I have to go to my husbands Christmas party tonite and act all " jolly " YEAH!! LUCKY ME!! Well, enough ranting... gotta go get all " dolled up " Bye for now!! Guest guest
Hey there ...Zanes offical diagnoses is idiopathic infantile scoliosis 33.9 degree curve to the left at 3 months old, and he is not 6 months old. Yes, he had an MRI the first visit along with X Rays... but they didn't do an RVA measurment.. grr! When Nate goes... demand an mri, x ray, and rva measurement. I am sure with all the research you have been doing you know what an rva measurement is.. but incase you don't.. it's a measurement where the can tell if his curve is progressive or not usually if it is grater then 20 degrees it will be progressive (about 80 percent correct). So, I don't even know it my sons curve is progressive or not! grr! Well, I am going to try to take him to Shriners in Tampa (2 hour drive south of where we live) but currently he's still at his old Doctors office at Shands in Gainsville (2 hours North of where we live)infact I have an X Ray appointment tomorrow to see how effective this TLSO brace has been (not very) I also have an appointment tomorrow to meet with the head boss lady at the University of Florida (gainsville)Orthotic and prosthetic care unit to talk about casting. They currently do not do it at all in gainsville, but i am going to introduce some information to them... (knock on wood, cross your fingers..pray!)But the doctors there are pretty set in their ways =( so we will see. After I get copies of his newest x ray i am going to mail out the packets I have put together for some doctors to see if they will cast Zane... Casting is def. the way to go... Well, My appointment is at 11am 2 hour drive, have to get up early talk to you all when I get back!!! ~ Amber~
Guest guest
Okay Amber, and Zane are almost EXACTLY the same age. was at 32 degrees at 2 months old and progressed to 50 degrees by 4 1/2 months old. Our Dr. told us you CANNOT,I repeat, CANNOT brace a 6 month old baby. Your Dr. is nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sorry but that really angers me! GET RID OF THEM ASAP! when do you go to Shriners? I am in shock right now. Poor little Baby!
