Yam vs Sweet Potato

a bit of trivia

All " yams " and " sweet potatoes " sold in the USA are different varieties of sweet

potato. True yams are an entirely different tuber, and are not grown

commercially nor are imported as far as I know. The " yam " designation given to

the darker orange with purplish skin variety is a marketing ploy, and a very

successful one, I might add. It has confused as many people as the infamous

" sinus headache " campaign that added an invented disorder to the PDR. LOL
