Guest guest
I agree with you, Tom, that each person must be considered on an individual basis. Maybe we need to clarify the term " young. " My mother thinks I'm young 'cause she's 90. Ha! Jim and I look at people who I am sure are in their early 20's and they look like they were 13. Getting older will do that to you. As you know, I'm a big supplement fan and have gotten very good results from many of them. But I'm not 16. If I think back to the time of my life between say 14 and 19, my body did a huge amount of changing. Most people live long lives, so unless they have a medical problem, I honestly believe it's better to let Mother Nature get them balanced out before they start taking a lot of stuff. The best thing they can do is learn to eat properly and learn to have patience, two things most young people don't do. They want a 30-minute sit com solution. This is the fault of today's society where everyone wants everything yesterday. On the other hand, once a person reaches their early 20's, things are different. And they're different again when you hit 30 and so on. What I can and can't do at 58 is very different than what I could and couldn't do at 16, 25, 35, 45 and, if I make it, at 65, 75, etc. As you age you need to use just as much common sense as when you're young. Believe me, it is difficult because if you are in good health, you continue to think you're 25. Periodically your body reminds you that you ain't! So yes, supplements and everything else to do with training is individual, but again, I'd prefer to see folks under about the age of 20 eat right, get enough rest and train properly and stop expecting someone to give them a magic pill. Even with supplements, there is no magic pill. If you don't have all your ducks in a row, the supplements won't do you a damn bit of good, and I think that's something of which everyone on this list is well aware.
