Guest guest
I'm sure I'd remember if the Bromelain from the pineapples was a rodent killer! I'm not going to say it's not used in that regard because frankly, I don't really know. However, when Dole was operating full tilt, the only clean up was a daily hose down with water and machinery maintenance. But after the season and the machines were quiet, the plant was given a thorough cleansing. When I first began working there it was during the season and I simply thought the factory floor had a black rubberized covering. Imagine my surprise when it was cleaned with muratic acid to reveal concrete! The black " goo " was pineapple juice and dirt. There were no shortages of roaches (some the size of small cigars) or mice. So obviously the natural bromelain wasn't killing off the critters.
