Guest guest
I'd like the list's " take " on this technique. I've sort of dismissed it because it seems to be the latest fad. If you drive up Wilshire Blvd through Santa and Brentwood, you'll see a " Pilates " practioner every couple of blocks. This sort of thing always makes me wonder if those who are offering their services really know what they're doing or they're just getting on the latest bandwagon. It reminds me of each cardio craze, like Tae Bo, that blow in and out of gyms on a constant basis. Then lo and behold, there was an article in the December 2000 MILO written by a man who is a serious trainer who said that Pilates has helped him immensely. He talks about body balance, such as a chiropractor or PT would notice. He does state in the last paragraph that ph Pilates, the developer, didn't believe in weight training because he thought it made people musclebound. But the author feels that the two compliment one another. Since this article appeared in MILO, it got my attention. Any comments? If you think it's worth doing, then how does one go about finding a decent instructor? Rosemary
