Guest guest
Barry Sears can really be credited with reintroducing fat back into the diets of most bodybuilders. Before he came out with his ideas, most of us didn't eat nearly enough of it to make decent gains in the gym. Upon reading his interview in Muscle Media (when it was a viable publication), I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, I did not gain body fat, but I did gain muscle mass. I think Barry's 40:30:30 plan is a good macronutrient ratio, although I agree with Will Brink that the " 40 " should be protein rather than carbs for anyone training with weights. Be that as it may, Barry just doesn't give a person enough to eat. For my weight, I'd be starved at the calorie level he recommends. I think it was at about 1500 cals/day. I can easily eat 2000 cals/day and probably go over that when I'm training hard. If you want to build muscle mass, you've got to give your body enough nutrition dense calories to work with. The Zone Diet simply does not do that. Rosemary
