Guest guest
Hi all, We just returned from Guatemala with our 5 month old daughter. The last time we had a babe in the house, we weren't doing kefir, raw milk, etc... Here's my question: when can we give our 5 month old kefir? Can I use it now with her cereal? Also, how soon do you think we can do raw milk? We're using formula right now, which I HATE to do! I breastfed my two homegrown children, so this formula thing is new territory for me. We are aware of the homemade formula recipes in the NT book but haven't gotten organized enough to make them and honestly don't know if we will. They seem so complicated and time consuming (OK, I know that's lame. Please don't chew me out! Thanks much! Jean
Guest guest
HI Jean I would highly reccommend the group waphb (Weston a Price Healthy baby) lots of moms on that group have adopted babies and use the NT formula. I think the initial gathering of the necessary ingredients is a chore but once you have it on hand and you get a good routine down it probably is pretty simple. Congrats on the new babe! h
Guest guest
I made the NT formula for my granddaughter and it made an amazing difference in her health. She hadn't been breast fed and was small for her age. Now she is 2 and extremely healthy - has never had an ear infection (my kids had them constantly with tubes and all the other bad fixes). I made it weekly although they say to make it more often in the NT cookbook. Even if the milk is a little sour it is still good. You can get most of the ingredients at either Mastel's in St. or over the internet. If you can't get raw milk here you could drive to MVV and freeze it. I would get the Radiant Life CLO at Whole Foods. My granddaughter likes the CLO - she calls it 'fish' and yesterday she took it out of the frig and asked me to give her some. I think she got used to the taste from this formula. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Thanks for inspiring me Sara and h. I needed boost right now I guess. I think I was feeling overwhelmed with bringing in a new baby and trying to settle into routine and catch up from being out of the country for 9 days and all that. I'm going to set about collecting ingredients today and start with the NT formula as soon as I can. Also appreciate the tip on the WAP Healthy Baby group. Going to check that out too. Happy Monday!
