Guest guest
The debate in the House of Lords yesterday was characterised (who is is surprised?) by a focus on personalities and a posse of union barons speaking up for the CPHVA. However there were some key assurances; significantly: *that the NMC members will be charged with deciding what title to use for the new register *that the register is expected to exist into the future and *that the NMC has a continuing responsibility for standards of health visiting. Baroness Sheila Noakes (Con) and Lord Tim Clement- (Lib-dem) proved excellent friends. The web address is lengthy so be sure to post it all in: http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld199900/ldhansrd/pdvn/lds01/text/11213-22.htm#11213-22_dl0 Best wishes -- Cowley Professor of Community Practice Development Public Health and Health Services Research Section Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery King's College, London 3.29b Clerk Maxwell Building 57 Waterloo Road London SE1 8WA tel: 020 7848 3030 fax: 020 7848 3506
Guest guest
Dear , Baroness Noakes and Lord Clement- were brilliant in speaking up for us the way that they did. I've read the whole thing and felt proud to be a grass roots member. Thank you Moira, and for your stirling efforts which I am sure have not been in vain. The assurances by Lord Hunt were useful although there is nothing written in tablets of stone so to speak. It is all left to the NMC to decide. Moira, you deserve a medal!! Your perseverance has done great credit to you.
