Guest guest
Yes, " failure " was the wrong word to use. Pavel didn't say that, I did. However, he did say that you stopped the number of reps when one person couldn't do any more, which I interpret as " failure. " But usually with pullups you know when you've had it. Some people say you should keep going and do half or quarter reps, but I don't see any point in turning this type of exercise into a biceps isolation. As far as flu shots, I have gotten one for the past several years because I know if I get the flu I won't be in the gym for possibly several weeks and nothing would upset me more than that. So not only will I be sick, I will also be angry. Good way to increase cortisol! Sure there are chances you take when you take these immunizations, but we don't live in a perfect world. Even with the pollution, supposedly bad food, etc., etc., the life span of the human race is becoming longer, due in large part to the prevention of various scourges. On the other hand, the current lifestyles and resultant afflictions that used to be seen only in the elderly makes one wonder if we're heading in the opposite direction, but that's a different subject. If you have doubts about any immunization, I suggest reading about the disease you are trying to prevent in the Merck Manual. You will more than likely then get the immunization! And by the way, don't stop with flu vaccine. If you haven't had a Hepititis B series, get one. At least in CA, all medical and school personnel (including school children) must now have this series. It takes 3 shots, the first 2 one month apart, and the third, six months after the second. Jim was immunized against this by the Army before he was sent to Nam because Hep B is rife in the Orient. Since we now have a great many immigrants from that area, many of whom are working in restaurants, Hep B vaccination is just a " better safe than sorry " idea.
