After reading Rosemary Wedderburn's post about Of Stones and Strength

I got to thinking that it would interesting for people to give

reviews of books about training that they had read and liked.

A book I read a while ago and thought was very motivating was

Dinosaur Training by Kubrik. In his book he give a lot of

history of the strongmen and talks about the amazing feats of

strength that were demonstrated 100 years ago. He discusses many ways

of training that are not prevelent today but would certainly be

effective. He has an approach of NO EXCUSES just work hard.

Some of the interesting training he talks about are barrel, keg, log

and sand bag lifting. He also talks about using thick bars, 2 to 3

inches think. Much harder to grasp than the 1 1/8 inch barbell.

He is also clearly a proponent of drug free training and hard work.

The book reads more like a story than a training manual. I found it

very motivating to train hard and it gave me a lot of news ideas for

training.
